dont hate, but i quit a game today in the first 120 seconds

*duck*

Before the pitchforks and angry mob start appearing, hear me out.  I dont quit games, im a decent player yada yada.  Entered into a custom game where my teammates fed the enemy in quick succession.  They were obviously very new, while our opponents were more on my level.  it wasnt going to be close, it was going to be an all out slaughter.

So i left in the first few minutes.

keep in mind before i hear the comments "well you dont know how the game would have panned out, they could have just had an unlucky first few minutes yadda yada"., please just take for granted in this exercise that ive played enough to know what a nub vs exp game in the first minute or two looks like and this is what it was.  So, instead of spend 20 minutes just getting raped I chose to leave and play a more evenly matched game.

Again, this is within the first two minutes, not halfway through the match when everyone has time invested.  i didnt screw my teammates, as it was hopeless from the beginning (for you to have an opinion on this, again assume that this is true), either way they would get a loss, eithe rway the other team gets their win..the only thing missing from the new equation is my wasted 20 minutes.

im totally willing to have it show up as a loss on my record, as while stats are nice i decided that my time is more valuable, and id like to play more enjoyable games instead of level up my stats.  for example in pantheon, if its me and a human vs a human and an AI , i leave instead of get the free win.  Thats how Ive been rolling and its more satisfying than statting.

So, take that all into consideration and give me your opinion.  Mature and intelligent responses only please, no insults etc.

i stay and finish those games as well.  The game i left had me and two nubs vs an entire other team of me's.  Its impossible to win or learn anything from a game like that.

Ive won plenty games sir where it was me vs two humans.

I just had a game where my team-mate quit after dying 3 or 4 times. I assumed all was lost, and the opposition fed off my AI teammate no end, so I tried a new build.

And won, even though my AI's k/d was about 1/11, and he had <4 flag caps.

Losing is no reason to quit, it's an opportunity to try something new :)

totally agree uvfragm.

Again everyone, that wont work if the entire other team is as good as you.  This thread addresses that specific situation.

The only game that's impossible to win is the game you quit on. With anything else you never know.

You can't tell how expert your opponents are in 2 minutes when you admit your teammates are newbies. More likely the other team just looks like experts because they are being fed kills. There's absolutely no way to know that early in, especially since you don't have the advantage of a level playing field to judge properly.

I enjoy balanced games and even more I enjoy my limited gaming time.

When you get assigned to players who are much much less experianced than your opponents and they start off by dieing multiple times in the first minutes, well then you just got shafted. Your opponents are the ones who can try out new builds and new items, you on the other hand have to play a game of cat and mouse as you run from the better geared players/ coordinated team. Really its only fun for your opponents who will farm to oblivion before making you a dark spot on the floor.

Now I doubt they both gave up there lives more than once in 120 seconds, i mean they have to be pretty suicidal to make that happen.

Two thoughts:

- It aint over until the fat lady sings.

- You can learn more from a single defeat than from dozens of victories.

With that in mind, i declare your whole idea about how it is logical to quit if <insert stupid reasoning here> to be void.

As a sidenote, as people seem to be obsessed with the early death of teammates.

1) It takes half a minute to get anywhere and another half to fight, so you can die only  once during the first minute, in fact.. if we consider the death respawn timer, then its unlikely you will die more frequently than once every 3-4 minutes.. and even then you really have to try.

2) Killing a level1 demigod - while useful - is not the end of the world. 550gold to the opponent.. boohoo. its not like he will be able to afford ashkandor from that. If you are lucky, they will even use that cash, to buy some upgrades at the wrong time, allowing you to win the game. Sure.. if you are playing against better players (team average) than you (team average), then you are screwed, and that goes even if you do not die, as teamwork will kick your collective a**es anyway.

So what you were in essence saying is: quitting is ok if you see that you and your teammates are up against more skilled players and as such a defeat is almost certain. I'm sure you see how that makes you look.

I agree with leaving. This game is at a point where once you get behind there is very little you can do to come back. It is also a heavily team based game, so no matter how good you are, you cannot "carry" your team. If you are in a game where your team is obviously oblivious to the games mechanics, there is no reason to sit around while they spend 9 hours looking at items while the enemy eats your base. It's a waste of time, and personally I play games to have fun. Babysitting people that jump online having never played the game before, is not my idea of fun, it's annoying and a waste of time. I have limited time available to use for gaming, and I want to spend that time playing a decent game with reletively balanced skill leveled players. Not spending 25-30 mins or even more, watching my opponents feed the enemy, run into 3v1 situations repeatedly, ignore my pleas to try and stick together, and generally just be crappy.

When the UB on the opposite team has over 4500 health, and the UB on my team has less than 2000, then tries repeatedly to fight him 1v1, then even if I try and help him 2v1, he still can't even make the kill (I was Erebus so I'm basically useless till level 4, but I was trying to help regardless so he'd at least stop lemminging, then by level 4 we were 10 kills down), I think I'm well deserved to quit the game.

Anyone who uses the term "rage quit" and then gets angry about people who quit and have more fun doing something else is hilarious.
