Currently available only for Windows XP. This does NOT work on Windows Vista. Now every fan of STAR TREK can own the official STAR TREK Windows XP desktop theme designed by The Skins Factory's Hyperdesk division.

Bah, these people are no Stardock. Vista has been out how long and they still don't support it?

I want a WindowsBlinds (or MyColors) theme!

Cobra, The Skins Factory puts out high quality themes (they wouldn't be in business if they didn't). One can enjoy both and Winstep as well, without bashing any of them.

From what I have heard, Hyperdesk for Windows Vista may be out soon too.

I suppose I could enjoy it for a few months - until Windows 7 comes out :\ . After seeing what Windows 7 can do, I'm hooked. It's very high on my to-buy list.

One of the reasons I like Stardock and buy their products is they're very good at staying up to date :). In my mind there are basically two kinds of technology companies: Those who lead, and those who follow. Stardock tends to lead :).

I'm not discussing a false choice, Cobra. As I said...they do things differently. To each his own, or as many as he wishes.

I don't see a "leader" or "follower". I feel that's false logic. There are different companies which make different products which do different things. JMO...

If they ever do based on the new movie I'll give it a whirl. Until then The Skins Factory's got my vote.

Well, maybe the the line isn't so distinct - but if somebody is continuously a full OS release behind with compatibility with their product, I find that equally absurd. What's the logic behind releasing a product mere months before it becomes out of date? What's the logic of spending the entire lifecycle of an OS to develop a product for it, especially a product that is very likely to have compatibility issues with the next OS?

IMHO it's kinda hard to enjoy a product if staying with the latest OS means you only get to use the product a couple months over a period of several years. "To each their own" maybe, but can you blame me if I don't buy a product simply because I cannot use the product? Can you blame me if I'm not terribly excited about something that I can't use?

Yeah - it's SOOOO logical for me to be excited about a product that finally supports my OS right before I buy the next OS which will render the product incompatible again. I'm sorry, that logic totally evades me - what was that "logic" you speak of again?

. . . except that Stardock's products appear to do everything that Hyperdesk's do, plus a whole lot more.

Yeah, Hyperdesk is a follower.

Cobra, SD isn't going to touch it because TSF's done all the base work. No pun intended. As for being "a whole OS behind", they're a small shop, and have to set priorities based on income from each project. XP still rules the OS market...whether we have Vista or not, so They put the Vista patch on the back burner and waited...then 7 came along. Likely the Vista patch will work for 7 but they're gonna be testing that too. Count on it.

I don't call that "followers", but you're entitled to think as you wish. SD's products do many different things, it's true. That's why I've had them since way back. They aren't the only product...and other products 'complete' SD's. There's no insult intended nor existent in that.

As I wrote: "they do things differently." And that's a good thing, since everyone's looking for something slightly different. It's what "Customization" is all about.
