A Forum Game--"Think of a Lyric"

A Forum Game--"Think of a Lyric"

Okay denizens of JoeUser. This is something I have been wanting to do for a while here. I played along with this game on another forum and it was a lot of fun. Over there we had stretched it to over 2,500 replies. So I am asking you folks here to play along, let's have some fun with this. Here are the rules.

Each person needs to think of part of a lyric from a song. I will start it off with some lyrics. The next person to post adds some lyrics, the trick being one of the words in the lyrics they post must also be in the lyrics I posted. Then the next person picks a word in the on above them and post a lyrics with a common word, and so on. Does that make sense? So some specifics. Words like 'a', 'the', 'it' are discouraged, try to be more creative. Please put in bold the word in your lyric that you had in common with post before you. Do not post entire songs. It makes it too hard and there may be copyright issues. Try to limit posts to only one verse or the chorus, something small. But not so small that it makes it impossible for the next person. And it is always nice to include the artist and title of the song. Everybody game? Please? I will kick it off.

Floating high
In the evening sky
I see my faint reflection

Like what others see
When they look in my direction

I'm lookin' 'round bewildered
is this some dark and evil jest?
what brought me to this cursed keep
perchance some crazy quest
god forbid I am no coward!
pitted against monster, man or ghost,
I'd wield my blade with crimson gusto
for I'm the proud barbarian host!

When I was just a young boy,
My mama told me son,
always be a good boy,
don't ever play with guns,
but I shot a man in Reno,
just to watch him die,
so when I hear that whistle blowin'
I hang my head and cry.

When I was YOUNG
I never needed anyone
And making love was just for fun
Those days are gone
Livin' alone
I think of all the friends I've known
When I dial the telephone
Nobody's home

All by myself - various

Relentless I'm speechless
I'm fooled by my inner weakness
Enticing Inspiring
Your words were so convincing
Delightful but soulless
Claimed harmless wishes seems less
Exciting
Just frightening

No more dawning days
Only whispers of darkened ways
Forever falling tears
Forever falling
No more screams in vain
No more dreams put to shame
It's only me
Only me

It's a long day living in Reseda
There's a freeway runnin' through the yard
And I'm a bad boy cos I don't even miss her
I'm a bad boy for breakin' her heart

Now I'm free, free fallin'
Yeah I'm free, free fallin'

All the vampires walkin' through the valley
Move west down Ventura Boulevard
And all the bad boys are standing in the shadows
And the good girls are home with broken hearts

Ventura Highway, in the sunshine
Where the days are longer
The nights are stronger than moonshine
We're gonna go, I know...

The moonlight plays upon your skin
A kiss that lingers takes me in
I fall asleep inside of you
There are no words
There's only truth
Breathe in, breathe out
There is no sound
We move together up and down
We levitate, our bodies soar
Our feet don't even touch the floor
And nobody knows you like I do
'Cause the world, they don't understand
But I grow stronger in your hands

...But I'm in so deep

You know I'm such a fool for you
You got me wrapped around your finger...
Do you have to let it Linger
Do you have to,
do you have to
do you have to let it Linger

Oh, I thought the world of you
I thought nothing could go wrong
But I was wrong
I was wrong....

now it's easy when you don't know better
You think it's sleazy?
Then put it in a short letter
We keep warm
But there's just something wrong with ya
Just feel like you're the hardest button to button

I had opinions that didn't matter
I had a brain that felt like pancake batter
I got a backyard,with nothing in it
except a stick,a dog and
a box with something in it
the hardest button to button

Transmission third world war third round
A decade of the weapon of sound above ground
Ain't no shelter if you're looking for shade
I lick shots at the brutal charade
As tha polls close like a casket
On truth devoured
A silent play on the shadow of power
A spectacle monopolized
The camera's eye on choice disguised
Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?
A spectacle monopolized
They hold the reins and stole your eyes
The fistagons bullets and bombs
Who stuff the banks
Who staff the party ranks
More for Gore or the son of a drug lord
None of the above fuck it cut the cord

Lights out guerrilla radio
Turn that shit up

Withered hands, withered bodies begging for salvation
Deserted by the hand of gods of their own creation
Nations cry underneath decaying skies above
You are guilty, the punishment is death for all who live
The punishment is death for all who live

Out of the silent planet, dreams of desolation
Out of the silent planet, Come the demons of creation
Out of the silent planet, dreams of desolation
Out of the silent planet, Come the demons of creation

I’ve been looking for a savior in these dirty streets
Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
I’ve been raising up my hands- drive another nail in
Just what God needs, one more victim

Why do we crucify ourselves
Everyday I crucify myself
Nothing I do is good enough for you
Crucify myself
Everyday I crucify myself
And my heart is sick of being in chains

Got a kick for a dog, beggin’ for love
Gotta have my sufferingso that I can have my cross
I know a cat named easter, he says will you ever learn
You’re just an empty cage girl if you kill the bird

I’ve been looking for a savior in these dirty streets
Looking for a savior beneath these dirty sheets
I’ve been raising up my hands- drive another nail in
Got enough guilt to start my own religion

I'm just drivin' nails in my coffin,
everytime I drink a bottle a' booze,
I'm just driving nails in my coffin,
Driving these nails over you...

I remember we were driving, driving in your car
The speed so fast I felt like I was drunk
City lights lay out before us
And your arm felt nice wrapped ’round my shoulder
And I had a feeling that I belonged
And I had a feeling I could be someone, be someone, be someone

Well, I gotta get drunk and I sure do dread it cause i know just what I'm gonna do,
I'll start spendin' my money callin' everybody honey and wind up singing the blues,
I'll spend my whole paycheck on some old wreck,
And brother I can name you a few,
Well I gotta get drunk and I sure do dread it cause I know just what I'm gonna do...

Willie Nelson redid it... "I gotta get drunk"

woke up quick, at about noon
jus' thought that i had to be in compton soon
i gotta get drunk before the day begins
before my mother starts bitchin about ma friends
about to go and damn near went blind

ran in the house, and grabbed ma clip
wit the mack 10 on the side of ma hip
bailed outside and pointed ma weapon
just as i thought the fools kept steppin
jumped in the fo' hit the juice on ma ride
i got front back, and side to side
then i let the alpine play (play)
pumpin new shit by NWA
it was gangsta gangsta at the top of the list
then i played my own shit and it went somethin' like this
cruisin down the street in my six-fo''
jockin the bitches, slappin the hoes
went to the park to get the scoop
knuckleheads out there cold, shootin some hoops
a car pulls up, who can it be
a fresh El Camino rollin kilo G
he rolled down his window and he started to say
its all about makin that G.T.A.

coz the boys in the hood are always hard
you come talkin that trash, we'll pull ya card
knowin' nutin in life but to be legit'
