1v1 Game Length

Hey everyone, a buddy of mine and I just recently purchased Sins + Entrenchment. Gotta say our combined initial impression is "Wow"!

My question to the greater community is: How long is a 1v1 match (vs a live person) on a small map supposed to take? Between my friend and I we have very little experience with this game, but have other 4x and RTS experience. Our last game took over 2 hours to play with no real resolution. We both had starbases, I had a number of capitals (about 5 i think, with one Dread at lvl 6). His captial ships had been destroyed at an earlier battle. We went back and forth in terms of attacking with our various fleets to no real decisive fight.

It seemed to us that to actually take an opponents planet was extreamly difficult (not saying it shouldn't be hard). And that only with another few hours of game play would there be a complete victory.

So what's the general thought here in terms of how long a game of Sins should take. Thanks!

Ya I have heard this kinda talk from other people, it get worse in more than 8 people games, to be honest, you can expect game to last more than 10 or more hours, that is probably one of the reason I bought this game

Are you just battle where both of your fleets get wiped out or are you playing with stragety?

I rarely play online, but I have played 1 vs 9 insane, that game has been going on for more than 100 hours, and I probably wiped out 1 or 2 of the AIs, so hang in there

hmmm, if you friend is still new and its one of the really small maps, you could try a dreadnought open and rush him the fuck out of dodge }:)

Tip: Set the game speeds all to 'fast'.  Sins is far too slow on the default speeds, and even the devs have said that they plan to replace the current 'normal' settings with 'fast' (and make fast really fast).  This should cut your game time down by at least an hour or so.  Beyond that, be more aggessive.  It's natural to want to see the whole tech tree in a new RTS, but once you learn the unit counters better you'll find that 1v1 games shouldn't take more than 30 mins to an hour.  Unless you're playing on a large map of course, then you're going to get more turtling and teching as with any RTS.

Lol I am afaid if they made it really fast, it could lag up alot of people, even if you have the ram, the other person might not be able to handle it. Remember we all don't own 6gb ram computers. Besides computer processing time will also be insane, even with a duo core, which most home computer can't process that fast.

Na i have 1 gig and 2.0 ghrtz proc. I play 5v5 alot and its fine. Its when I play ai games that it slows down. Also all games I play in are with normal fleet size. If you make fleet size large there will be more lag.
