President Has Canceled The National Day of Prayer

But It Will Not Stop The People From Praying

I'm not surprised, but am disappointed.  The President of our nation has just canceled the National Day of Prayer's observance in the White House.

This National Day of Prayer has been observed every single year since 1952, when Harry Truman first introduced it. It has been commemorated by every single President until now.  Why now?  Is this part of the big change?

Is this a good thing?

I believe more than ever that we need to come before God as a nation in corporate prayer.  As a nation we have much to pray about.

This is a good thing.

A big part of this day is to pray corporately for our leaders, our military, our families, our neighbors and co-workers.

 This is a good thing.

In the meantime while the White House chooses not to recognize this day tomorrow,  millions of people from all religious backgrounds will go to God in prayer seeking his wisdom and direction instead of their own.

Yes, this is a good thing regardless of religious affiliation.

I guess the President has it all under control.

We need to pray for our leaders more than ever before.

And that is a good thing.......

"If my people who are caled by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."   2 Chron 7:14

They were subverting the religion of the USA and are horrible non-christians just like Obama. Get real, your blatent hatred is one of the most un-christian things I have ever seen.

There's no hatred here at all.  Honestly.  I actually prayed for Obama yesterday.

He did cancel any sort of observance or ceremony that the White House did in the past.  Yes, he did sign the proclamation....big whoop.  He put his John Hancock down on a piece of paper.  He's been pretty good at signing all sorts of things lately.

In fact I got information both from Fox News and CNN the day I wrote this.  Fox News used the word "cancel" and CNN used the words "toned down."  I guess it depends on which side of the fence you're on.  But I tend to look at both sides to make sure I keep myself in check.

But he couldn't be bothered to recognize a day that means alot to millions of people in this country?  He certainly had no problem in celebrating a Pagan Holiday and hosting coctail parties once a week in the White House.

Since he's been in office these 100 days I can't think of one thing (maybe some can?) that he's done for the millions of Christians in this country as he has the other myriad of other groups out there.  This one day could have helped his relationship with the Christian Conservatives.  It seems as though he's doing everything in his power to tick them off.  But that's just my opinion.

I will repeat....he says he's a Christian but there doesn't seem to be enough evidence to convict him in a court of law.

don't pat yourself on the back to hard now JD.  I was out all morning and just now got on the computer.  I have no problem answering my critics.

I wouldn't say hatred or bandwagon; they just were quick to jump the gun period.

I actually agree with this sometimes...but not this time.  Remember I wrote about this when I blogged about Sensationalism Sells?

I would say Nitro Cruiser, Karma Girl and Right Winger's posts were pretty hateful.

Two things:

1.I disagree

2. Karma is, I believe, Buddhist...

Sensationalism does sell KFC, and I'm afraid that your post and the evidence provided points to you being sensationalist.

If you look at it, CNN was right. Bush picked up steam on it, but before most presidents were very (for the most part)...low key, for lack of a better term.

Notice how all the so-called "Christian" Conservatives were quick to jump on the hatred bandwagon?

I can't speak for the rest, but I'm hardly a religious person. My statement was solely for humor. This presidents actions often make me laugh, so why shouldn't I share that joy with you? It's no use crying about the all the misdirection, subterfuge, and theater that is so rife in DC these days, might as well sit back and enjoy the circus. Call it hate if you like (you'd be wrong though), if that's what it takes to give you comfort on your choices. Me, I just find it amusing how many are asking, no, begging for this presidential drama that continues to unfold an act evermore ridiculous than the previous.
