new CPU = weird graphic glitch ??

Help?

Hello all, I hope someone can help with this.  I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to post this but I didn't see a tech support forum.  I recently upgraded my CPU from an Athlon XP 1600 to an Athlon XP 2600+, now I get weird straight lines jetting out at all angles from my ships and starbases.  Has anyone ever seen this before?  I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game, no good.

Thank you...

Please open your debug.err file in notepad, and copy/paste the contents into a post here. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem. The location you'll find the debug.err in varies depending on which game you're playing:

Dread Lords: My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2
Dark Avatar: My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar
Twilight of the Arnor: My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor

Older versions may store the debug directly in the location the game is installed at.

Be sure to copy the debug immediately after the error occurs; if you start the game again, the debug will be erased and recreated for the new session.

That's pretty odd. If you toggle the enhanced ship rendering option in the game, does it have any effect?

I didn't try that yet.  I will when I get home tonight and let you know.  Thanks Kryo.

It looks like WinXP does not have the correct CPU drivers or HAL installed for your new CPU.

It does that because my motherboard (even though the CPU works with it) doesn't recognize and label the CPU.  It's a known thing with the EPOX 8KHA+ m-board and the Athlon XP 2600.  The only problem I've had since the installation, with any of my applications and games is this one issue with galciv2...

well toggling off the enhanced ship rendering removed the glitches, but that doesn't really solve the problem because I want to use the enhanced ship rendering.  What should my next step be Kryo?

Thanks much...
