Hello everybody.

I feel like a little bit of a bad boy because I did a search in the forums on this subject... but it was a lame one lol... at any rate, I was wondering what camcorders do you guys use to create dreamscenes?

I personally was thinking of getting the new Flip UltraHD (for around 200 bucks) to create flying scenes from the airplane, train scenes, city scenes, nature scenes and so forth. Now the Flip records at 720 DPI for the widescreen size of 1280 x 720 (as oppossed to 1024) at 30fps. Its not great, but its pretty good if you don't want to spend 600 for a Hd recorder.

But i am curious as to what others use to cre3ate their dreamscenes. 3D Studio? Camcorders? An animation program? If you use a camcorder for your dreamscenes, what type do you use or would suggest?

End of quote

There are many animation programs like  Adobe after effects

                                                           Autodesk Maya

Autodesk 3ds Max and many more.

But if you are new to animation then it would take a bit of time learning these to produce quality content.

Panasonic HS300 records to SD and/or 120 Gb hard disc, they also have TM300 which has 32 Gb Flash disc instead of a Hard drive and also there is a SD only model. It is great unit and does snaps at predifined times over long periods too. Also it has zoom/focus controls via lens ring and it still has eyepiece too.

Their best unit from 12 months ago the HDC-HS9, SD9 units are excellent and have been heavily discounted recently and the software with them is very good too IMO.

I am very busy at real work at moment so not had much of a chance to shoot and loop as of late but come June I should have time to drive to the picturesque areas again.

The offerings from Sony and Canon look very good but all are expensive in the HD format still.

A lot of the high level Digital still cams of recent do fairly OK video too.

For non real video it is After Effects and Apophysis.

Thanks guys for your responces. I hope to make some nice dreamscapes in the future. I have plenty of ideas (even though most of thwm have probably been done oever and overf again like blue skys with clouds and flowers blowing in the wind lol) and I just wanted to get off on a good starting point cause money is limited.

I figure I would get the Flip HD for 200 and then get another more high grade camera for more detail down the road. As far as software, I am robably going to have to wait on that end unti next year, but I do still have an old school version of 3D Studio Max and Autocad 14 lol Maybe I can do something fun with that until I can get something more helpful.

I can't wait to start!!!
