During a game my pc crashs

Sometime when i'm playing demigod, in the middle of the game, my monitor goes black, my audio keeps on making an annoying repeating sound then my pc shuts downs. Any reason why or how to fix?

What type of 3D card do you have, what Sound Card and Audio Drivers do you use, do you have problems with other games and when you say shut down do you mean the PC closes down in an orderly manner, like restarting or such, or does it just freezes and locks up?

There could be a few ways to fix this, however I can't honestly say until I have more information.

My computer specs are:

nvidia 9800gx2

E8400 3 ghertz duo

4 gb ram

Asus p5ql pro deluxes motherboard

I use the network/audio card that comes with the motherboard

My drivers are all up to date.

Also my pc just freezes and locks up.

Lastly it happens MAINLY whenever i play online, it rarely happens in single player

I have the same exact issue.

I'm gaming on a Gateway P7811-FX (Check for accurate specs) and it's NOT a heating issue. It ONLY happens with Demigod

I have a similar issue. It occurs in approx 1/3rd of my games.

PC completely resets. No nice messages or bsod and no error report on restarting.

I assume that the reboot happens when a map finishes loading, as it only occurs after it has been loading for some time. Long enough I would think to have finished loading into the game. This doesn't happen with any other games I play.

I'm using dual radeon 4800s with the latest drivers. Not much point giving more info off the top of my head as it could be incorrect. Is there somewhere I can upload my dxdiag when I get home?

I have the exact same issue.

Posted the same problem earlier.

Seems to start happening since the last update.

Hrmm. Do the techs actually read posts in this forum?

I was woefully conservative in the estimation of my crash/game ratio. So far I have tried to play ten games of Demigod, and it has rebooted my computer five times out of those ten. The last three attempts in a row have all resulted in my PC completely rebooting.

Where do I send my dxdiag? Come on people, I'd like to do what I can to help this issue get fixed so I can actually play!!

They do respond....here is the ticket trail (unresolved as it may be). They have been very responsive and I think its important to give credit where credit is due. I just hope they can resolve this...Im glad Im not the only one with this issue.

I have updated my video drivers and sadly have the latest audio set. I am
still having the same issue. Entire computer locks up with Black screen.
Hard boot is only way to get anything to work again. Please let me know what
more you need. Attached is the Demigod log in its entirety and my most
recent DxDiag with the updated video drivers. Please advise on anything I
can do. I appreciate any assistance. I love the game....when I can play it!

Nate,

Our Games Software Manager has posted a reply to your Forum post;

If there are drivers for your monitor you may want to install those as Vista doesn't always handle the generic monitor driver well.

If you have any anti-virus programs, exclude the Demigod folder from it as A/V software actively scanning a game's folder can cause performance issues. Since it's happening during multiplayer, it could also be caused by an internet security program. You could try making an exception for Demigod in any internet security program that you have and see if that clears up the problem.

David,
Im gaming on a Gateway P7811-FX laptop. Monitor drivers are kind of a non-issue. I can attempt the exclusion on my AV program, but that’s kind of a stretch. The lock up happens in both Single Player and Multiplayer. Demigod has more access to the outside world than it should right now....haha. I appreciate the effort, but it sounds like you guys are drawing blanks as well. Not sure where to go from here...

Nathanael,

Can you check your Anti-Virus configuration settings for any 'extra' functions, like Ad/Spy/Mal watcher apps?
I see Windows Defender running, as long as you have a good AV also running, you don't really need WD.

I'm wondering if this may be a router issue, can you provide your router and firmware version?

Its a linksys wrt54g (embarrassing I know). Strangely enough, my outdated desktop runs DG (albeit sluggishly) without crashing at all. I will test the AV theory tonight and post results. Currently at work.

Hello,

Please try the following:

-For VISTA Users: click Start, in the start search field type 'cmd'. Right-click on the search result and select 'Run as administrator'.
For XP Users: Click Start and then Run, Type 'cmd' and hit enter.
-VISTA ONLY: If UAC is enabled, click 'Continue'
-Type: sfc /scannow
-Wait for the scan to complete (this can take several minutes)
-When the scan has completed, it should give you some feedback as to the result

Please let me know whether this resolves your problem or if you have any additional questions.

Unfortunately it did not....I'm still crashing. I tried with and without
Anti-Virus loaded, before and after running detailed command. I see a few
other people in the forum are detailing this same problem :(

Hello,

If the date in the DxDiag is correct, there should be a newer driver out that you could try for your graphics card:

Still no luck. Attached is the lastest dxdiag. Locked up at the beginning of
the second game.
