Backdoor ERebus

Just finish a match on crucible, was totally owned. 2vs2 match, My team was Oak and Sedna vs Erebus and regulus. Early and mid game my team was owning the map in terms of flag capture and DG kills and towers Destroyed and gold. As we were pushing towards their citadel, they all sudden changed their strategy. Regulus was trying to slow down our push by ranging us from behind tower, at the same time Erebus was using mist to jump into our home base, capture our portal placing a flag log and taking down towers. By the time we teleport back we have to deal with minions in home back recapture flag and erebus mist away out of reach. We tried splitting but 1 DG was not enough to push foward. By end game, they dominated the flags and gold and upgrades, and our base was out of towers. It ended with us 2 DG trying to push foward, but they took the portal at out Home base and had better minion upgrades and destroyed our tower, even after teleporting back we could not save our citadel. Despite loosing, this was one of the best game i've played and i just think as the game moves foward, rather then focusing on the build of each individual DG, whats more important is the overall strategy like this and also figuring out the best combination / complimentary  DG for each individual map. I have again and again come across so many players who cannot play more then one demigod. So sometimes you are stuck with TB and a regulus, which on some maps aren't the best combination. So people i know some of you have favourite DG, but learn to play other DG!!

Yes Erebus with bats is pretty brutal on Crucible. I have a build for him that relies on minions, mist and bats to do just that. It requires high mana regen but once you have it you bat over the gap, walk in front of the portal, DONT TAKE THE FLAG, and turn into mist. Enemies will come out of the portal, die in your mist and become nightwalkers. This is INCREDIBLY frustrating for your oponents as, if you can stay in mist long enough, there is nothing they can do about it. Once they realise this and leave, you unmist to regen mana and take the portal. When they realise youve done this, they will come back. Turn into mist and let them take the portal. Their wave starts coming out again, dying in your mist and becoming deathwalkers. Rince and repeat.

It is a VERY effective tactic for Crucible and Ive had other players calling me all kinds of names for using it as well as blaring that Im a cheater. Works very well, but doesnt make you any friends.

This sounds like a simple fix.  No more nightwalkers from mist.

Absolutely. It only works if you spec for it which makes you USELESS at pretty much everything else. This particular build actually requires you to fill your inventory with helmets. No boots, no armor, no gloves. You need the mana regen to stay in mist form. There are ways around it (trying to take on erebus is NOT one of them) an it is in no way a bug or exploit. It is simply a phenominal tactic that works far better on some maps then on others.

If you spec for it?  Well, the minion build is a common build.  On top  of that any erebus worth his salt has atleast one point in Mist to avoid large burst damage that could kill him (Snipe for example).  It's not like you are putting points into a useless ability for the spec.

One point of mist

End of Sean0883's quote
One point of mist doesn't really cut it - you need enough to actually kill their minions as they pass through (ie, you need to max it).  Furthermore, filling your inventory with mana regen stuff is pretty harsh.

But yes - if you can survive long enough to execute the tactic, it's bloody.

Bang on Kalil. Speccing for the build requires Max mist as well as an inventory full of mana regen items. Makes it impossible to hydrib this build in any way. Not for what I mentioned anyways. You need the damage and the length of time in mist for it to be effective.

Mines on the mist, 6 of them. Game over for Erebus. 0% chance of survival if all you've done is stack MP regen.

Ever since that human princess rejected him, Erebus's strategy has always been to go through the bacldoor ;_;

Late game, this works quite well. I just did it on an unsuspecting Rook + Sedna group, and they weren't very happy.

Backdooring is always a possible, if not ethically questionable technique. We'll see if GPG + Stardock approve of this in the future...
