I always just wait and save up till I can buy the most expensive idols, and never even bother buying the low level ones. Obviously this presents the problem of no minions in early game.
What would you guys recomend on when and what idols to buy?
Get the priests first, they'll probably be the most useful to you early on. Idols not as "must have" as people think they are, but they are damn useful in some builds.
The only general I really play a lot at the moment is QoT, and I only use priests for her. I upgrade them slowly over time.
It depends how the game is going. I like plaing QoT with minions, but I won't usually get the idols until later. But if I need to quickly power up, I'll the best possible idols I can afford, preferably one of each. Good clerics are the most important. It depends on your build ofc, but if you get the class spesific minions and buff them up, you're pretty well set. At some point though, getting all the minions is well worth it, if you're also getting items and skills to boost them. The more, the more the boosts stack.
Yeah I used to do the same then I started going ahead and getting level 1 priests which help a lot early
I've been doing a little bit more experimenting, and I have to say, the melee idols arent worth buying at all. The archers however, are just as good as the priests. even though they dont heal you, they have such a long atack range, even other players dont go after them, and their damage is decent. I still found however that buying anything but the highest rank of archer is a waste of money.
Resell to get 2 priests and 2 archers at the start before you buy your scrolls. That way you have 4 extra by the time you buy new idols mid game.
They die too easily to be worth stacking but there's no reason not to pick up the top idol late game if you've built your skills or items towards buffing minions.
