Question For The Reviewers?

A lot of reviews for the game (if not all) have stated that one of the negative points of the game is balance.

Could someone please tell me the imba's of this game? How can they say the game has balance issues if they have played the game for about 3 days? I was in the beta for 6 months or so and I can glady so the balance for demigod is awesome (for a game just released). Most games are 10x worst balanced then Demigod on release...

The following thread summarizes well some of the balance problems:

Anybody claiming that "balance problems" are a main issue with the game is way off base.  There are much bigger problems.  The balance for Demigod is really quite good right now, all things considered, especially for a quasi-RTS.  Most RTS come out of the gate with some kind of glaringly imbalance strategy, and most RPGs / MMOs come with some kind of glitch or skill that can be abused.  I've yet to see either in Demigod.

Stun locking and snare stacking would have been a ridiculously imbalanced issue to deal with upon release, but thank God they fixed that one with the Day 0 patch.

That said, I just finished a Pantheon 2v2 Slaughter game, with my Queen of Thorns and a Lord Erebus versus ... Two Oaks.

Yeah, we lost that one, horribly. There was simply no way we could have even thought about winning it.

Other than that, I'm pretty impressed with the 0-day balance versus the Betas. I'm hoping I don't feel quite so raped next time I venture out there ...

End of SquidLord's quote

Honestly I think the biggest thoughts of imbalance come for situations where:

  1. Your opponnet has out played you, and you think it's imbalanced.
    • That is to say, you end up fighting someone 5+ levels higher than you (which can be very hard)
    • They're killing you or your teammate demigods which is netting them vast amount of cash.
    • More cash = better gear/items.
  2. You buying the wrong gear.
    • Lets face it, most of us do not know the most optimal gear for not only your demigod but for the particular way you're planning on leveling up your demigod.
  3. You don't know how to play your demigod.
    • They are 8 and each one seems to have at least 2 builds (I suspect even more).
    • I bet most people are not picking 1 demigod and trying to get really good with him.

It's easy to run up to a Demigod who's higher level than you, has better gear and you start pounding on them and get smoked and they start yelling "imbalance", I just don't think most of the time that is really the case.

Part of the issue comes, from not being able to see your opponnets gear, something I'd like to see in the future patch.  I'm not sure how to display it, but I'd sure like to know.  It would help solve the questions like:

"how the heck is he doing so much damage"

"How is he regening that much health" etc, etc.

I'm going to agree with Jara. In a game 100% skill based it may be easier to see if a class is imbalanced (Ala FPS) but in a game with levels, skills, stats and equips it can be harder to see.
