Full name used in game instead of username?

Ok so i played a few matches last nite, great.. until i realize that instead of my username its showing my full name first and last. Not a big deal but do i really need to have my full name out there.. dont know if maybe i missed a setting but i went into the my account tab and my name was there full so i changed it. Tried to get back in and got into one but my name was still there. Couldnt check again after that because the servers exploded...

Is it a change i have to wait a while to see or does it happen instant?? any help would be appreciated..

The game just picks up your Impulse nick (if you don't have an alias set, it's your name). Changes to your nick should transfer over to demigod within 24 hours. The web guys are planning to add an option for users to change their in-game names manually (separate from impulse) after things settle down.

Kyro I changed my name last Friday when I got the game from Gamestop, and i'm still stuck showing both my First/Last Name. I have a ticket into support also and am still waiting a resolution. HELP

Well ... kryo ... that's in theory. As you very well know, it doesn't quite work like that, as I have repeatedly informed you on past threads.

I have the latest update, and still, my in-game nick does not match our home account/log-in, Impulse nick !

Over a month ago, I changed our home Impulse nick (which was my dad's nick : CyberMage) to Sorceresss ... and the game has NEVER recognized the change :

Not in the last stages of the Beta, in March, and not in the patched release version, in mid-April.

I still am called CyberMage by the game, which states that I have logged-on as CyberMage ... which is totally FALSE because I have logged-on as Sorceresss, which has been our account's Impulse nick for over a month.

I am aware that on another thread you recently said that some guys were working on that issue, and I'm here to report that on this evening of April 16, the problem has not been resolved.

The job to copy the names over was just set up yesterday to solve the issue where they weren't. I'll see if the DB guys can check that it's working.

I can also pretty much confirm it's not working as of now, how hard can it be to change a database entry. And this should pretty much be high priority because you'll end up with multiple nicks in demigod unless you block all the old nicks people switch away from in Impulse.

Please do this! I know I'm an OCD bastard about it - but I like tying my purchased games to my real name username, and prefer to use my nickname in game. I can do this with Steam currently, but not Impulse. The options I currently have are swapping my Impulse Account (along with my purchases) to my nickname - which I did - and currently isn't working in game...or use my real name in game - which I can't do.

This is pretty much my only complaint with Demigod right now - and the solution you provided would solve it completely. :D

Oh - and the fact that your Impulse password is sitting (in unencrypted plain text) in a configuration file in My Documents. That is kind of worrisome.

for the record, I am really unhappy that my fullname is still showing even though I changed it more than 24 hours ago.  This has stopped me participating in online matchups except with people I know in real life.

Please fix this as a priority, I am sure you can click on my account and identify why this may be happening.

@ kryo :

I report that 24 hours later, on April 17, at 22 h. 30 (Eastern), it still does not work.

I just logged in as "Sorceresss", which has been our Home Impulse Account Name for the past FOUR weeks, and once logged-in, the game still stubbornly states that I have logged in as "CyberMage", which was the old Account Name, prior to mid-March.

That is FALSE : if I was let in with the log-in name of Sorceresss, how come once I'm in, the game states that I have logged in as CyberMage ?!?

Of course, if I play, I'm identified as "CyberMage", whereas I absolutely want to play as "Sorceresss". The former is a 58¾-year-old man, the latter is a 22-year-old girl : big difference !

Our Home Impulse Account is an e-mail address, associated to our (many) Stardock purchases. We don't log in with an e-mail address. We log in with the Impulse log-in nick ... which may be (in theory) changed at will.

The problem is that the Game stubbornly refuses to recognize any changes in the Impulse nick.

Those mysterious "DB guys" must ne underpaid.

I'm in the same boat, I am not going to play with my real name showing up - for one my stats might get tied to that name, for two - I don't want people knowing my real name.

I'm kind of jealous of all the people that are complaining about matchmaking - atleast they are getting into a few games. I am not even attempting to join one until this can be resolved. Been using Hamachi up until now to play with my friends.

As I have mentioned in another thread, I am in exactly the same boat.

I set my impulse nick months ago when the transistion from the stardock

loader to the impulse loader was first made, and my in-game name still

appears as my master account name.

So, you know.

gj on that guys.

The interesting part is this originally worked fine, and they somehow managed to revert the perfectly-fine syncing to being broken and then not resolve it in several months - I originally altered my nick via the forum during early Beta2 and it updated ingame instantly, I could immediately login ingame with this nick and this is the nick that was displayed ingame correctly. Then beta3 hit, and *bam* suddenly even though I was logging in with this nick, it was displaying my old ingame name that had been erased maybe a month previously, and that's now the ingame name that's been displaying ever since.

Whatever the database guys are doing doesnt seem very consistent, as for old names that had been removed and correctly changed ingame to suddenly reappear out of norwhere they must have reverted to an old database from somewhere, and havent had it correctly updating from the forums atall since that time.

I can't wait for that option I want to change my name from Gyli to ViridShaman on the game. I would of created a new account as ViridShaman if I knew that it would use you impulse name at the start.

It has been nearly a week since I changed my name...I haven't played one game online since I bought the game, and won't until it changes...I guess I'm emailing support.

This isn't being treated as a priority unfortunately.  I'm not sure why it's so hard to fix?  It's either a modified query response from the username database or an update to Demigod so it queries the right database field.

I would really just like to play online with randoms!

I can now report that it has been FIXED (at least for me).

Since today (24 April), I am correctly identified by my Impulse Account nick : Sorceresss.

The old nick, which was my dad's, has totally disappeared : from the lobby, from MP games, and from the rankings.

Thanxxx a lot. It was an obsession of mine to have that corrected, as I have posted about it on a few threads, for the past 4 weeks -- to the annoyance, I am certain, of kryo.
