Another Staggered release day!

On the main Demigod Website is says 3 days till release, but on every UK retinal Website is says it will be released on the 29,5,09

If the Download guys get the game over half a month before anyone else, then its going to screw up the world rankings as they have more time to play the game than everyone else!

And before the idiots reply "Well just get the download version then" I don't want too..
A/ It takes to much of your bandwidth up
B/ It takes to long to download
C/ I re-install my system every 4 months and don't want to download it every time.
D/ Its allot cheaper on DVD than download

I did want to see how high I could get up on the ranking table, but there is no point now starting that many days behind.
The staggered release day has ruined a massive part of the game I would have enjoyed, and im not even sure if I should by it any more! :o( Why don't the publishers ever learn?

Less cheap but you can buy it online on impulse. Then you will have a DVD someday...

1. Atari is handling international publishishing, ask on their forums.

2. "And before the idiots reply" Calling someone an idiot is a real mature way to get a response.

3. If you're trying to voice a complaint with the hope of actual developer/publisher response, it helps to use proper grammar.

Sir I think you are the idiot that thinks a world ranking system will only reward those people who have been playing since day 1. If the system won't accurately rank people who start later it is worthless. A ranking system has to rank on skill rather than number of games played.

While I don't understand why publishers don't do a simultaneous worldwide launch, especially when the game doesn't need to be localized (UK) I can alleviate some of your concerns.

A) Can't help with this one.

B) If you are on broadband, it will download faster than you will get it in your country it sounds like.  Of course, if they launched on the 14th in the UK then you may be able to get it from the store faster.  However, if they have a pre-download option (where you can download 99% of the game before launch and the last 1% on launch day) then you can actually get it faster via digital download.

C) If I'm not mistaken, Impulse has the option to archive games.  This should allow you to archive the game to DVD (assuming you have a DVD burner) so that you can re-install from there instead of having to re-download the entire thing again.  Also, you can order the game via digital download and have them also ship you a boxed copy for an extra $5 or something (plus S&H, which may be high in the UK).

D) How much are you seeing it advertised in your local outlets for?  It's 40USD on Impulse which is about 28GBP.

What type of guy can say this crap. Those who you call idiots, are actually brainiacs agaist you. What in the world prevent you from asking friend with good connection to download it for you and burn on that DVD you cry for, or use school, work, mothers office whatever. Its one of features new Impulse Phase 3 brought check this http://anywhere.impulsedriven.com and stop calling me idiot, really misplaced.

You just need to download the full game once, you can backup your impulse games and burn them on a dvd.

After that, all youll ever need to download is game updates (if you want, of course) and you're good to go.

The ranking system in Demigod is based on epochs.

That means that epoch 1 (which starts April 14th) will end at some point in the future, the rankings will be reset, and a second epoch will begin with new rankings.

The rankings reset after a set period of time.

As Frogboy mentioned, there will be Ladder resets.

This means when you get the game you have some good time to practice hard before you start worrying about becoming no.1 on the ladder. By the time you are pro, the ladder probably would have reset (they might even reset the ladder on the UK release date for us...if we beg them).

Not just that, you can join a year later and still be top in the ladder. The ladder's will be using a Elo system. This means if your rating is 1000 and all the top players have a rating of like 3000 and you beat them, you will get 10x the points you normally would, and since everyone will be ahead of you already (with points) you will only have to play a small fraction of the games everyone else has played to get to the same amount of points they are on.

Ive joined a ladder (which use the Elo system) half a year late and I managed to get no.1 on it despite playing about 100 games less then everyone else.

A ) If it takes too much of your bandwith download it a internet cafe. In fact, give me your adress and I will download it for, put it on a CD, and send you a copy as soon as possible.
B ) One-Two hours is not that long to download. Impulse has really fast download speeds (at least double your average I would say). I usually download at 100-150kb, with Impulse I was downloading at 300kb minimum.
C ) Burn it on a CD. It takes literally 5 minutes. If not, just wait that extra hour or two to re-download it.
D ) Digital download was cheaper option for me than boxed...I dont know where your ordering from. Buying it via Impulse means 40$ for digital, and 50$ for boxed.

Ontop of that, I think if you pre-order it from Impulse now (boxed version) they will send you it asap. It will maybe take like a week longer due to shipping but thats all (Stardock Member can confirm this?).
