You're Banned!: The Forum Game

Okay, here's what you do for this game: You have to "ban" the person who posted above you for an outrageous, silly, or funny reason. Got it?

So, basically, anything in which a character switches sides is Pocahontas? .... you do know Ayn Rand did it before that... right?
End of Scoutdog's quote

Ayn Rand wrote about it before Pocahontas experienced it in the 1600s?

And Bison, banned for missing your target.

Banned because I meant Ayn Rand did the changing sides thing in a book before the movie was made.

My point is, it's a common literary device that shows up everywhere, and did not start or end with Pocahontas.

Banned because you made me think of Machiavelli. Man, that dude ended up with a rep he doesn't exactly deserve.

Banned again because pop Pocahontas is not at all the same thing as historical Pocahontas. The real woman may have experienced a life that reads like a literary device, but that's true of most of us if you have a really loose definition of literature.

*smacks face*

I'm not saying Pocahontas absolutely did it first (and I'm not talking about the movie, but the historic events), I'm just saying that since it is a well-known piece of history, it serves as a common example for writers past and present to use as a jumping off point.

banned for I only mentioned the movie to make a sexually deviant joke.

edit: Swicord is getting it.

Banned for it isn't all that well known.

I don't really remember the storyline...

Banned for making me want to Google it.

banned for googling such a well known storyline

Its almost as constant as the one that will save all with their death.

banned for west

edit: I don't mind people using the same story over and over, I just wish they would give us a twist or at least do it well. Avatar was okay, but we got screwed out of the best scenes. I mean, we all knew he was going to be the one to tame the big predator, but they thought it might be a surprise, so then didn't show the actual fight to capture it in order to build suspense. That's bullshit. And the marines were a joke from beginning to end.

Scoutdog knows what I'm talking about all too well. I'm just asking that in the process of giving us the same old kibble every day, at least throw in one meaty bit that makes us perk our ears.

If Avatar just had no plot and a lot of logical inconsistencies, I might have jut ignored it. But no. He had to make it technophobic...

And D9 was, to me at least, very novel in its mockumentary style, incredible grittiness, and unique (@ least from an American perspective) setting. What really got me, however, was the effort Blomkamp put into making a full, detailed world- both its surreal this-seems-exactly-like-reality-but-there-are-seven-foot-tall-bugs-running-around quality, and its interesting combination of depth and its tendency to at the same time load up on little details and leave so much to speculation.
