Lets hear all the testers thoughts

On the online problems

Now, I didnt get a chance to get into the beta, but from the posts I can read here, it seems like the online infrastructure is simply not good enough. There are far too many threads all saying they're having problems staying in games or finding games or connecting to games. Im making this thread mostly becasue I'd like to here everyones thoughts on this in one spot instead of spread over 90 different error report threads. It seems to me like the game could use another month or two in beta testing to really fix the online set up. This game wont work without it. But if you do push it back you really should allow new people in the beta, some of us are dying to try it out ;)

The beta isn't there so that you can "try it out" (by that I mean this isn't a demo beta, this is a "holy fuck that part doesn't even remotely work" beta).

Personally, I've lost interest in the beta due to connection issues. Betas are for finding the bugs. I just grew tired of finding the same stuff for months on end. When its fixed (=retail), I will be all over this game because frankly, everything except the netcode owns.

I agree that besides the netcode the game is very good but its hard to test a game when u can't play it, with other people or alot of other people.

I didnt mean the whole "try it out" thing like that heavenfall. I realize that its beta testing thats kinda the point of this thread.

I think Demigod has alot of room to succeed at, and has good basics but what it needs more of is some variety at the moment, their needs to be some more stuff because even though its tons of fun, it needs to have replayability, i dodn't wanna do the same thing every time i play thats just boring.

I can honestly say that it's been a while since I've had this much FUN playing a game. I've played a lot of games where I have a great time playing them, but I actually have FUN playing Demigod.

Well hopefully soccer the game sells well enough to convince the devs to keep pumping out new demigods, maps and gametypes.

I have yet to become bored of it.  All the little things aside it is really, really fun to play.

The game is fun when you win.  But when you play against good players, I just want to throw the laptop out the window.  It is almost a one hit stun kill in most games.

As for the netcode, I think it's ok.   Right now it's hard to get more than 3v3 game going.  I did play a full 5v5 game but just too laggy. Not good enough for release but I think 1 month time looks about right.   so just 1 more month until release 4/14

I played a 5v5 , 4v4 and 3v3 all today.  Minimal lag on these, even with europe and us players.  The game is great, needs some balance and tweaks here and there.  Netcode needs the most work, but it is very doable in a month.

Also I agree with others, this is one of the few games I really have FUN playing.  It is also annoying as hell to be on a noob team against a really well organized team.

Demigod is very fun, and has a foundation for depth that says good things for post-release updates.

Connectivity is about 80% - as in, 80% of players can connect to other players without trouble.  If you are in the 20% or try to play with someone in the 20% then you will be losing sleep.  This is the most vital issue, currently.

Hopefully we can close the loopholes on a few abusables before release but all in all I'm happy with how it has turned out

I'm sure connectivity issues will be fixed by release.

I'm more concerned about other things. ^^

I've played every released iteration of Demigod and I'm happy with where the game has gone, even though I wish it had taken a much more distinctive flavor. The game is very easy to learn and that's what the goal was, so Stardock and GPG succeeded in achieving their vision. The AI has really improved and puts up a pretty mean fight now. I've trounced the AI nearly 100%, save for a loss on my first test run or I when I wasn't playing to win. With 3C, I lost 3 matches in a row last night. I played as a General with an all General team vs. TB, UB and Rook, and the AI was merciless in chasing me down for a death strike or falling back when clearly being kited into a wall of towers. The game is very stable single-player, no crashes at all.

The flow of gameplay is quick, a long match hitting the desired 30 minute mark with high tier units and artifacts. The end battles tend to lead to definite climaxes with huge armies of minions and dramatic music. It really looks and sounds like the End of All Things for one team. Every move in Demigod really counts but you really don't have a lot of time to think about it so you're constantly looking at the mini-map, seeing where the other Demigods are, flag ownership and minion upgrades. It seems the majority of element in Demigod plays a crucial role to the gameplay so I think it's a fun and solid offerering.

The game is beautiful, great graphics and smooth animations, especially each Demigods deaths. A lot of personality is shown when they are respawned and their eventual fall. Where I think Demigod falls on its face though are the artifacts. Whatever items you equip, they only thing they change are the numerical stats and abilities. It'd be a herculean effort on the art department for them to somehow reflect a graphic representation of the artifacts for each Demigod given their drastic design differences, but I wanted to SEE the new gizmo or item on a Demigod. Bling is cool when you have a singlular avatar that the whole game hinges upon.

The Demigods themselves are great but as most everyone requested, there needs to be some variations on Demigod skins. Also, it'd be nice to have a Demigod taunt button, a la Team Fortress 2. Yeah, it's not critical and it doesn't really do much for the game and probably everyone is focused on capping another flag instead of taunting over a fallen foe. But I think it'd add even more personality to the Demigods. I mean, how cool would it be to see Rook go into an emo-rage smashing his hammer around, pounding his chest and roaring after having pancaked someone? It'd make replays that much funner to watch.

The maps are awesome and provide for some wonderful scenery. Fully functional. But I really wish Stardock and GPG went overboard and integrated the wonderful backdrops into the match. Say for example, the prison map with the demon encased in crystal? Instead of a Citadel simply crumbling for the end scene how about you show that and then the demon breaking free of the crystal, filling the whole screen with his palm held out and the opposing team is teleported into his palm. Maybe the demon eats them, immolates, squishes them, etc. Something nasty to end the match with a really epic scene to make the players go, "Wow... they died and I don't think a life crystal will help..." Also, it'd be nice to see maps have further personality with a special minion portal tied to it that players contest over. Demon prison would spawn imps, Water would have water nymphs, etc. Also each map would have some sort of apocalypse trigger to fight over. Say for example, the map with all the water. It'd be neat to have a flood super trigger that would wipe the board clean of minions and Demigods.

Anyways, that's stuff I wish to see in a sequel or a really ambitious patch/expansion. As the game stands, it's great fun and good job to Stardock and GPG.

Please suggest this in the The Official Demigod Change Request Thread.  This is a great idea that adds polish to the game.
