download corrupted?

I recently had to uninstall and reinstall Demigod now the 2.7gig it is suppose to be is only 1.7 and the game executables are missing or corrupted? I suppose now after only getting to play the game 3 or 4 times I will have to wait till the retail release comes out. Since when does 1.7 gig download = 2.7 gig game size. Impulse crashed after the latest update so I had to re-download the game but it isn't all there or the download is corrupted.

I have tried to reinstall 3 times already, I give up I guess till retail release comes out.

The download is compressed.  You download 1.7 and it installs to 2.5.

actually under this particular circumstance I will have to disagree with you....

here are some screenshots of what I am talking about. and the size of dgdata.zip itself is only 1.2gigs

also for some strange reason the folder is set to read only and windows won't let me unset it no matter what I try to do.

size of actual game is suppose to be 2.7gigs?

actual size

after another full install size of the actual folder is 1.21 gigs NOT 2.7:

folder size

when i run demigod.exe i get this message: (the files appear to be corrupted)

demigod error

Interesting.  Always happy to be proven wrong!

to tell you the truth, i don't doubt they used file compression. I'm going to try a little experiment then get back to you with my results. the demigod folder being locked as read only has got my curiousity peaked. I'm going to see if I can force delete it in safe mode and reinstall the game then. I'm wondering if the folder being locked as read only has something to do with the game not decompressing properly. Funny though, it never failed the file verification process but I'm going to try it anyway.

heh we'll see :)

reinstalled again after completely uninstalling and removing the Demigod folder in C:\Program Files\Stardock Games in safe mode. Big mistake at first, got the BSOD on reboot :/

Used a previous config and rebooted fine. When I reinstalled the game this time the entire bin folder wasn't installed, actually the only file in there was Activate.lng all other files were gone, no exe's, no dll's, nothing. Oh the entire Demigod folder is read-only again :/

I have no idea what is going on here, it's either my computer, the impulse program or the download is fubar, at this time i don't know other than wait another month and a half for the retail box version to hit my doorstep cause I'm sure not reinstalling windows (if it actually is the problem) for one game.

Strangely enough I don't have any other problems with Impulse or any games that are distributed by this medium. I'll just wait till I get the box retail version and go from there. Would have been nice to play it a little bit more though before it's retail release.

If you're having installation issues with Impulse, please contact [email protected] (those are not actually beta issues as such).

I have no idea what to tell stardock support. The new beta that came out yesterday also doesn't install properly either. I can download it, install it then it just shows up as available to install again (i.e. after install it shows up NOT being installed at all.) I have uninstalled and reinstalled impulse serveral times and still nothing will fix the problem. It appears to be only with demigod and no other games. I'll contact them but I doubt they can help me out.

After experimenting a little I got it to install and run with no credits to Stardock support. I had it up and running before they even had a chance to reply on my support ticket.

I first uninstalled Impulse.

Then I had to manually go through my entire windows registry and delete each individual key related to Impulse, Stardock, and Demigod.

Deleted any remaining folders that had anything to do with Impulse. I left the game folders intact since they really didn't cause any troubles anyway.

Then I reinstalled impulse. I did however have to download and reinstall every program that I have registered with impulse. Not really a big deal just more time consuming than anything else.

Last program I installed was Demigod, it installed fine after all of the above, go figure. And now it runs without any problems (I have to disable comodo firewall though)

It's really quite a shame that I had to go through all of this after simply trying to update from one version of Demigod to another.

Apparently Stardock/Impulse has some problems they need to deal with, asap. I would hate to see if this actually happened to someone else not as knowledgable about computers and windows as I was, let alone to even think about manually editing the windows registry.
