your mesh files differ error in online mp

well, seems I f'ed up something in the installation and now in entrenchment it tells me my mesh files differ and I can't join games. to be clear, I uninstalled sins when the final version came out and reinstall it. I didn't delete the rest files though. on the other hand I had already deleted absolutely everything in the beta 3 install, so I should have been fine.

in any case, anything short of another uninstall/ reinstall complete with file removing that I can do? I'm not too keen on it, you know?

edit: strange, now it just did apparently work with someone else. have to check with my friend again.

edit 2: so I tried again. still didn't work with my friend (couldn't join game, as before, or rather he could not join mine, but I'm sure vice versa would have been the same, just as it was earlier). but I could join another, different game with no probs. is it that there are two working versions out there? he was not in beta btw.

yeah I had exactly the same problem, was playing against two friends before entrenchment nothing wrong. but after we all downloaded entrenchment they were able to play multiplayer but i couldn't join the game came up with an error saying the mesh files wern't the same. I uninstalled and reinstalled but still nothing.

Did you delete everything from the folder before re-installing?

This is a common problem when testing in-house as well. Like annatar said, you just have to delete everything beforehand to make sure you have the same files :)

yeah, I think I posted that I forgot to delete the files. uninstalled it, but didn't delete them.

what makes me sceptical though is the fact that joining games is ok and I just finished a game with 3 other ppl and there was no problem at all. the only explanation would be that they, likewise, forgot to delete files and have the same state as I have. pretty weird situation ( but a nice game).

I shall remember it in the future. just so eager to finally get my hands on the newborn. man, just a few more seconds and thought and control would have prevented it ...

ok, now it's getting really weid.

I DID the uninstall/ reinstall. also deleted every file and item I could find. for sure. I only made a copy of the achievements file and stored it in a more general folder and copied it back in after I had reinstalled.

the result: still the same problems. mesh files and all. and yet, after the install I could play a fairly long mp game in the weekend. my friend should conceivably not be the problem, I mean he wasn't in beta, didn't have any mod files or anything. he just installed entrenchment and his version and mine just don't get along. I'm really sad, you know, and a bit pissed too. :'( what's the problem here?

edit: vanilla sins seems to be working just fine. it dropped me from my own game (my friend saw a msg saying the game had aleady started) but that is not really a new issue. in fact the game is running while I write this. maybe that helps somehow.

I'd email IC support at this point, to be honest :P Zip up your mesh folder and attach it, so they can take a look.
