[Bug] Holy lag batman!

So here is a lag-related rundown of all games I play. I never played a game with someone's ping exceeding 130ms.

40% of games are good (I usually play with the same people, duh not that many to choose from)

40% of games are noticeable lag but can still be enjoyed.

20% of games are completely unplayable due to lag.

Yet in all situations all pings are 130ms tops. Is there some way to indicate that the connection if flimsey for two people (lots of packet loss vs just straight up latency).

Lag from FPS then...thats what it sounds like.

There is a known bug/problem that has been giving people these low fps problems.

Also if you play against someone with a slow computer, it will also lag.  In the game, they have simspeed 1 or less.  So you can't just depend on 130ms.

Please clarify if you're talking about lag (network latency) or performance/sim slowdown.  The first can be gauged by checking the other players' pings, the latter is based on computer hardware.

Well I found it intersting that a 1v1 where the ping between 2 people is 300ms would cause such slowdowns. Shoot I remember playing Starcraft on a 56k with no lag problems, tell me how this game has a higher bandwidth requirement than starcraft 1 (don't confuse cpu/ram/graphics card requirements with network req)?

Though I noticed that some games approach lag differently. In demigod the game performs choppy like low frames per second, however other games perform badly by having a lag between issuing a command and it being executed but at least animations and such go on normally and AI do their thing. So click-to-move and it happens 1 second later.

The question is which is better? The delay or the chopiness. Personally I like the delay better, the choppiness makes me frustrated when playing. I would say tolerate a say... 1 second delay, then make it choppy.
