AI Difficulties

Is it me, or is the AI far too easy even on "Nightmare" difficulty? I used to be a "DotA Pro", so that may be helping me strategy-wise, but i roflstomp the opponent team with 3v3 two nightmare allies 3 nightmare opponents. When i say roflstomp i mean like i'm 18-0 with a 25 minute win, or something similar, with 10 + or - a few assists. I guess my request is either make AI harder or put an even harder difficulty up, because it's not much of a challenge as is. Also feel free of course to post your views on the difficulty and if you think i'm just being a jackass about it. ;3

Note: Don't say to just lower ally AI, that just makes for feeders, not difficulty.

I agree. I only started playing a few days ago, but I'm already steamrolling nightmare AIs. It doesn't seem like there's much of a difference in intelligence from the other AIs, really. None of them seem to try and run back when they're low on HP. 80% of the time I just auto-attack them to death the last 20%, because I can't be arsed to waste mana on a nuke when they don't try to flee. Most of the time they don't even go for me, they just stand there hitting my reinforcements.

I also used to play DotA quite a bit, and I've got to say that the guys who made the AI maps for DotA did a very good job at making them at least somewhat challanging (gangbanging, decent micro, etc). Maybe the Demigod devs should check out the DotA AI maps, and they'll see what I'm talking about.

The Ai was used to be much (and i mean MUCH) better in previous builds and the Devs already said they would look at the ai again in a future build.

I don't think you need to worry about the AI if Frogboy is involved in it.

At the moment i find 1 v 3 nightmare AI or 1 v 4 hard AI a challange. Have beat 1 v 5 normal AI and with 1 v 5 Easy AI got 85 kills this makes getting favor points far too easy.

Also did not win "Rook Award for killing 10 demigods with hammer slam in single game" and i'm sure i should have

yeah ai needs to be better and not just it gets more gold and expierience.

actuall, I did a test were it was 2 normal AIs vs. 2 hard AIs (I just sat there except I bought 2 citidel upgrades at the very begining) and the normals actually still won.   The hards had much more kills and more money then the 3 of us combined at end victory, but they made no forward progress against the normals, when the normals made it into their base and claimed victory.

End of quote

What DGs were on which side?  Which citadel upgrades did you buy?

I joined an online 2v2 game and everyone ended up leaving due to lag/crash.  So it was me with an AI teammate vs 2 other AI opponents.  I went ahead and finished the game.  At the hour point I was fighting a losing battle, they were at my citadel, my AI teammate and I were unable to really compete well against these guys as they were always way ahead of us in levels and upgrades from the time they were player controlled.  It was acid beast & angel man versus the same on the other side and eventually everyone was level 20 with all the citadel upgrades.

So I gave up and decided to goof around.  I took my Angel Man I flew solo to one of their portal flag.  Didn't even bring a health potion or anything.  I rather easily took their portal flag before I died.  Then when I came back to life I ran to their other portal flag and took that one just as easy.  My troops flooded in from all four portals and we ended up easily winning a game that we should have never been won.

I don't know what AI difficulties replaced the human players that left the game, but that was pretty moronic.  A human player would never have let that happen.  An hour of being totally dominated, 10 minutes of walking to portal flags to turn the tide.

That said, I know the AI will be worked on and beefed up considerably.  Gas Powered Games working with Stardock will not produce stupid AI.

Maybe but its hard, I think to program a ai to play a game like this. It takes alot of human ingenuity which might be hard to put into a comp. I dodnt know what i'm talking about though.

I suggest you check out DotA AI maps for WC3 actually, I'm quite amazed how well those AI work from just scripts in the map editor. And they work with like 20-30+ heroes, looking at the fleeing technic there it's a bit overboard at the start since they tend to fall back quite a bit from just being hit once but later on they'll stop doing that. If a structure is getting hit they'll go def, if the base gets hit multiple of em will go defend. They also group up and masspush or ambush single players, worst part is probably the chainstunning and instant reactions. Too bad they still are easily defeatable by outsmarting but they play rather decently and I really do feel they are superior to Demigod's AI for some reason

Well yeah human ingenuity almost always overcomes ai's eventually and than usually it becomes easy in game like this and rts.
