Don't know exactly where to put this, so I'll stick it here (that's what HE said, ha ha).
Was playing an online multiplayer game, I was Vasari. I had sent a colony frig to colonize a planet, and kept realizing it hadn't colonized yet. Every couple of minutes I'd look back at the planet and say "That darn thing hasn't colonized YET? Must have used a lot of mana up in the phase jumps." Eventually I knew something was wrong, and figured it wasn't on autocast, so I went to the planet and clicked on the colony frig, but it WAS on autocast. Did couple of checks (have I eliminated all opposition at this planet, is enemy culture too strong here, etc?) but all was well. So I decided to manually cast it - clicked on the frig, pulled up the colonize ability, and as soon as I clicked on the planet the game instantly froze, I heard the hard drive whirring away, and I knew it had crashed (mini-dump).
I decided to post this because I know EXACTLY what the circumstances were surrounding the crash. Maybe it will be of some help to a dev if he sees this.
While I'm here, played another game with a friend after the first crash - it lasted several hours. I noticed some anomalies. In one instance, I had queued-up turrets to be built around a planet - 3 or 4 (again as Vasari). Maybe 30 minutes later I was being attacked at that planet, and when I pulled it up to see what was going on, I saw that none of the turrets had ever been built. The "ghost" images of the turrets were there - the ones that pop up when you place a building - but it never made it past that stage (the builders never built them). A mouse-over confirmed that they were all 0 percent. Just to make sure, I asked my friend if by any chance he had had a scout in that grav well, picking off builders or something for 30 minutes straight. He said no. This game ended up crashing too (mini-dump), but I don't know the circumstances for this crash.
