While this election is still "Too Close to Call", I don't think either candidate can really declare that their campain was a victory. With what amount to a 50/50 vote, nobody should look at their policies and think they have hit the nail on the head. I hope that this is an eye opener for whoever wins that some of the stuff said by the other side really has merit.


There are 2 problems with this. First, the race is over, and has been since 1am this morning. NOw it is official. Kerry has conceded.

Second, Bush is the first Candidate in 16 years to get more than 50% of the vote. Clinton never did, Gore never did. So 51% is a pretty good victory and better than 50/50!

Looks like Bush is going to win the popular vote by 3%.  Bush got more votes than any US President in history. It's a pretty solid victory.

Its not just another 4 years of Bush. Its 4 years where he will care even less about actually having to please his contstituents

People who voted for Bush this year must have envisioned an Us v. Them mentality instead of a "what's best for America" approach. . . more war, more deficits, more protection for big business, America lost out.

As long as people are being blown up by suicide bombers, NO ONE IS SAFE ANYWHERE!

..but Bush will somehow make us "safer"? The guy simply stirs up terrorist hornets nests as is evident by Osama's video...

See, we don't care why or who you elect, except if the guy is a blooming madman likely to negatively effect (read: kill) people outside his own coutnry. Can't you see how defensive and childish you seem when you flout world opinion. We didn't really care if Germany wanted to elect Hitler,

That is analogous to letting serial killers go free because you are afraid if you catch one, then their friends will be mad and start killing more. Besides being totally assinine, it is also incredibly stupid!

it does say something about kerry, losing electoral and popular vote though. i never even gave bush a chance of winning in my mind (though i voted for him). maybe next time dems will have a candidate so many people dont hate (please dont be hillary), i couldnt stand the simeball.

As those of you who know me, um, know, I am an avid Democrat who voted for Kerry.

Bush won. Plain and simple. I don't like it, but it's what I'm having to deal with and live with right now. I don't really appreciate the rubbing in the face, but hey, the truth can be the hardest thing to take sometimes. John Kerry might as well have shot himself in the foot when he chose not to concede this race. I think this will kill whatever credibility he might have had, and probably muck things up for a long time. As for what the rest of the world thinks and the fact that certain Americans don't care... I'm not really that surprised, to be honest. I think the reason Bush won is because of this fact: enough Americans were stirred up by whatever GWB promised them, feared change in the midst of all that's going on, and/or made to (or decided to of their own accord) distrust John Kerry that, well, it just wasn't quite meant to be. You get enough Americans pissed off about something enough, and you get high voter turnout. High voter turnout plus scare tactics plus terrorism threat equals incumbent wins. A majority of Americans didn't want a change, they didn't feel they needed a change, and that's why GWB is looking at another four years. I am trying to remain hopeful and optimistic that it won't be so bad that I'll have to move out of the country, or go the more drastic and melodramatic route with the rope and all.

That people respond to other people's complaints about Americans, America, and GWB with statements like "take a long walk off a very short pier" screams of the kind of "f*** you" sentiment that caused me to vote for John Kerry. That these people are now vindicated makes me sick to my stomach. Still, I can take it like a man and admit that my guy lost.
Edit: I just read that John Kerry conceded the election. Good call.

I'm gonna put myself out on a limb here and say this. I'm sorry Bush won, but I really do hope that he will do a much better job for the next four years, for all of our sakes. Let's face it, if it wasn't for the morality issues on some of the ballots in the electoral states, he wouldn't have won at all. Plus some people say this is really a 50/50 thing, and I agree. No matter how you look at it, yes, he won, but he has a lot of things to fix. We can only wait to see what the outcome will be. We all have to come together now and make this great country of ours what it should be.

As for those foreign posts, what is it with these insults?! We all don't like the outcome, we might disagree with each other but we have freedom here to choose who we want and we will express our opinions, loud or not, freely, in our homes, in public or on websites like this, because we can and we don't have to cower or hide in fear while doing it. We don't go around insulting you guys about the way your countries are govern. It's our country so move on.

Um, the first concentration camps were created in 1933 and immediately gained infamy for their treatment of prisoners. Starting in 1937 Jews were added to the list of "eligible" prisoners.

Congress passed the Neutrality Act in 1937.

Europe entered WWII in 1939.

The USA didn't actively participate in the European war until 1941 (after Pearl Harbour finally pushed the population/politicians to drop neutrality), though FDR began sending munitions and supplies in 1940.
