Bug List

After using the Entrenchment Beta for over a dozen single player games, I have noticed some repetitive bugs.  If these have been covered, please excuse the repitition, and if these are not bugs but settings issues, please advise.

1.  Dissapearing ships/structures w/in a grav well.

During some games (Typically 2-4 AI, 20-50 planets), most object icons dissapear unless zoomed in fairly tight (like 1/4 of the planet more than fills the screen).  It is almost impossible to manage a medium to large battle when you cannot see where your opponents structures and ships are (nor can you highlight your own directly).  I Initially thought this only occured when the well was saturated with mines, but that is not the case, though the sheer volume of mines in the whole scenario might be the culprit. (This only occurs later in the game when most of the planets have been initially occupied.)  Gamebreaker.

2. Vasari and TEC colony ships go on alone when grouping Cap ships and sending them to another planet. (I have not tried Advent.)

Say you have a Vasari Carrier, Colony ship, and planet buster in a grav well, and you highlight all 3, right click the 3 arrow team up button, then right click the next planet over.  They should all line up, wait for each other, then go together, right?  What has been happening is the Colony ship sets the course, but the other cap ships just sit there.  So if you send the orders then move on to another situation, you might come back to find your colony ship being shredded, and your other ships lounging in the original grav well.  This is all the more annoying as there is no way to beat it--that is to say, if this happens, the only thing you can do is send them seperately, just try to time it right.  The colony ship always gets the blue line right, the others don't.  Major annoyance.

3. Dissapearing planet images from medium down to grav well zoom.

Interestingly, this also breaks the smart zoom feature making it almost impossible to zoom in on the juncture of the 2 lines where the planet should be.  Minor annoyance.

4. Exiting the scenerio hangs the game when trying to go from the stats graphs to the main menu.

This requires the task menu to correct the "not responding" program.  Seems to happen more frequently when I launch the game via the Impulse RUN command rather than the Vista games folder, but that is just an impression.  Minor annoyance.

I have had issues with Mini dumps on occasion, and the Mines are annoying enough to make me want to just quit playing (thank you, Mr. Ally, for filling my grav wells with your mines?!?), but hopefully these issues are already being repaired so no need to discuss further.

Cheers!

PS: Many thanks to whomever first pointed out how to use a scout to paint the mines for clearance!

Mods, please move this post to the proper location as necessary. Thanks.

1 and 3 definitely sound like video card/driver issues on your end - I've never seen these in my Entrenchment games.

2) There's a current bug/bad behavior where right clicking on a planet as a move order for your fleet actually assigns the planet as the target for any planet-targeting ability (colonize, raze planet, planet drain, etc). Zooming in to see the target planet's grav well and right clicking on the grav well as a move order seems to work ok. Have you tried this to see if the issues are related?

4) Is a known issue, I believe. Large games especially tend to minidump when you load/quit. It should actually spit you out a minidump and you shoul be able to alt tab (if you're playing full screen) to get the error window where you can click ok and Sins will close, without needing to go to the task manager and force close it.

That's why I haven't had this problem I always zoom in and give orders of placement, rather than just clicking on the planet.

Re 2: Hmmm, well that would explain things for previously unowned planets (the Colony ship being able to "interact" with the planet), but not so much when I target a AI-owned planet, as all Cap shis can "interact" (bomb) owned planets.  I will have to go take a closer look and see is this is occuring in both situations.  Thanks for the workaround though!

Re 1&3: The issues are new since Entrenchment.  My ATI drivers are up to date, have there been any posts about issues with Crossfire setups? I have 2x ATI 512MB HD 3870, a Core 2 Quad processor and 4 GB of fast ram.  I will play with the graphics settings, though I am still convinced it has something to do with mine spam.

Re 4:  I wonder if I waited for more than a Minute when exiting if it would either minidump or recover.  Though as I said, I have had some minidumps and this behavior is different.  In fact, the hanging is the only issue that I have always had with sins (on 2 different computers with 2 different OSs.

Thanks for the replies!
