[suggestion] Limit levels to 15

[suggestion] Limit levels to 15

This would make your choice of skills more important.. and solve the scaling problem.

Skill tree path elimination would fix this issue: eg you can have A and C but not B.

Skill tree path eilimination would work: eg you can have path A and C but not B.

why the double post, and what if u want full A 3/4 B and 1/4 C. What then. What your suggesting is also alot more work for devs which is not needed. Also i agree with Teseer

In my opinion, level 25 is a great limit.  Lowering it would just frustrate players whose games run long.  Slow down leveling a bit, and leave the rest alone.  It's great the way it is.....

One thing that might go a long way to slowing down leveling is to remove the xp leaching that comes from standing next to towers of choke points and gaining xp from the death of minions you don't even touch.  Make the Demigod earn his own xp.....   That would slow the xp progression and force players to be a bit more active.  :)  Especially when playing against the AI.

I think an easy solution from both sides would be to increase the max progression in your "core skills" so that bestial rage for example has 7-8 levels instead of 5. This would allow for players to either become experts at one or two abilityor branch out and a jack of all trades. Optimally those 7-8 levels should include an extra milestone special effect (area damage of regulus' wings on max skill level) at the last level (so one in 5 and one in 8) so it makes sense to progress in the middle but not in the end as well.

Yeah what i was aying too dude. Yes it would be more work for the devs soccer but making life easy for developers rarely goes hand in had with making a great game.

I agree with dbo's suggestion but thats not what u said u wanted a certain number of skilltrees I could take and thats stupid. I think they should an ult for every power and also for the ones that already have them it should be better. An ult should be up a spell alot making it worth it for people who put alot of skill points on 1 skill. i never said make life easy for devs i just said that they can't put that much new stuff into the game because its close enough to release. I think giving all the generals a complete makeover qualifies as major changes. Though thats just my thought.

Ay bad i meant to quote siksikiisois comment above rather then reffer to db0.

As for the new changes its never too late to start, this is why 80% of games miss their original release date. i have been in the industry for over 10 years and youd be amazed about how much gets decided and changed in the final months befire release. If they dont nail the game at the outset they wont attract the players and and it wont warrent extensive patch work further down the line.

This can also horribly backfire. eg Daikatana, Spore etc

The game prob will get delayed according to frogboy so i think it would good that until than we stick with smaller or medium sized changes instead of large and if that doesnt work they can delay game.

according to zero punction on the escapistmagazine.com. I quote "If u ever made an awesome series in your life, dodnt try to make another one cause it will fail. The guy who made sims did just that. He has recently made a new game like sims except with creatures called spore." hes pretty funny u guys should check him out. He is a very big critic and rarely calls a game good or even partially good.

I agree with Ke5trel.  The only reason this is an issue is because the games drag on forever.

If the games lasted as long as they are supposed to, then people wouldn't hit level 25 every match.  They would mostly end between levels 10 and 20, at which point the skills you have chosen still matter as you haven't gotten enough skill points for everything on the tree.  As people said, it is possible to get every single skill in DotA, but it isn't an issue because games don't last long enough.

I am not sure about the speed at which you gain levels.  I think this can only be determined once games are fundamentally balanced to last as long as they are supposed to.  At that time, we will be better able to judge how fast Demigods should level.

There is talk of more skills, but I don't think that is necessary.  If anything, the current skills should be developed more.  Similarly to what db0 said, I think we could use more levels for each skill.  However, I think that the levels should branch out.  Instead of just breaking skills down into 8 specific benchmarks, you should be able to focus on the aspects of the skill which you want improved.  Not just generic cooldown and manna cost, but specific things, like Snipe's range, base damage, and the damage multiplier for long distance.  I don't really think this is necessary right now, but it would be a more feasable option than making entirely new skills should the need arise for more things to dump skill points into.  You could also make ultimates at the end of skill paths a lot more "ultimate" given what a substancial investment it would take to get them.
