Your Christmas Gift Mr. Tax Payer

I'm certain by now that most of you have heard/read that the House has passed a $14 Billion dollar bail out for the "Big Three" auto makers.  Surprise, Surprise!  You may not have seen a couple of other things that rode along with that bill.

Federal judges will get pay raises to bring them up to the salaries of members of congress due of to the cost of living.  I guess our costs didn't go up?  Oh and our hard working legislators will also be garnering a $5K raise.  Well deserved I'm sure in this time of financial crisis.  This will bring their salaries to $169,300.00 plus of course extra income for speaking engagements, committees and expenses such as having their office plants watered, etc..  Of course this is also only a part-time job as most are businessmen or attorneys.  Also this JOB of theirs may only last a few years depending on the whims of the uneducated masses, and of course this is a salary for life.  Did I hear any of you were laid off like my wife?  I would be willing to bet none of you were given your salary for life, I know for damned certain my wife received no parting gifts.

You might want to take the time to write or email your legislators to thank them for this wonderful gift they are giving themselves in the name of the people.  I'm certain they would forgo the raise if they knew a few of us were unhappy with such a situation.  I for one will hold what little breath I have left waiting for them to care about us.

Happy holidays everyone from the bottom of my heart.

I wonder about those raises as the bailout went down in flames.

What we need to do is vote oursleves a raise. Isn't that how its done these days?

I say it over and over and will continue till I'm blue in the face or dead...we need a serious revolution in this country to get rid of these idiots and this pathetic 2 party system crap. We need to limit the terms of the people as well as they're incomes as well as they're access to lobbyists...these are suppose to be public servants and somewhere along the line we became government servants. I've had it up to my eyeballs with all this crap and all the pointless bickering between people during these elections. They need to be made accountable to the people and treated the same as any other criminal.

But sadly...none of these will happen until people stop fighting amoungst each other over whos party is better....they are both equally criminal...period.

Here's how: Put your taxes into an escrow account. Get your friends to do the same. Notify the news media. Start a tax revolt (after all, they're pretty revolting). If they don't collect money, they can't pay themselves unless OPEC or the Chinese are crazy enough to lend them some.

angus....I'm so sorry she hasn't found something. That hurts. It also makes me mad as hell!

Why the heck can't we recall the whole stinkin' mess of them? Or flush them?

The "Do Nothings" could manage to vote themselves raises (as predicted) though, couldn't they?:erk:

It's enough to drive me to drink....except I don't have the money for liquor.  (Angus...my spouse is without work, too; has been for over a year and he doesn't qualify for unemployment because he'd only been working 9 months before he was "let go" from the job he got right after finishing tech school, which I'm still paying for).

*Heavy sigh* but like the good doc said in a different thread, as long as you have love, you're a success.  (AND I have my health.. WOOHOO!  Life is good).

I am sick and tired of seeing these 'more money for the rich' news items.... the greed pisses me off beyond words... well words I can use publicly here.

It was decided here that a military coup was required to topple the greedy system, but all our soldiers who know how to fight are either in Afghanistan or Iraq...

... and the Salvation Arny is too busy door knocking and playing Christmas carols. ;P

Oh well, happy holidays to all Stardockians/WCers/JUers, etc. :)

I thought the bail out was stopped by the senate.  They are trying to get Bush to give up some of the money from the other bail out and give it to the big 3.  Thats what i thought i heard on the radio.

The greatest heist in human history. >:(

2 Trilion dollars and not a single job has been created.

Never got my stimulus check.

Recently went on unemployment for the first time in my 42 year old life. The system is so effed up. Freeloaders have completely clogged the system. Lucky I don't need much as I couldn't put up with it long. I'm ready to see what is on the other side of this thing we call life. Especially since I just got back from selling the last motorcyle of my collection. X(

I'd certainly like to be around to see what life would be like for these rich #$*%ing bastards when there is no longer anyone around in the service and manufacturing industries to attend to their needs.  The blank stares....they won't have a clue, they certainly don't now.

Honestly, I'm afraid of what this economy is doing to my integrity.  I know a lot of people who are doing well right now are people who inherited their money from relatives who did illegal things like selling alcohol which was illegal under prohibition during the depression.

I've been an honest woman up until this point.  I've followed the rules, I've worked hard, I've stayed within the law, I've treated others the way I wanted to be treated, I've shared, I've given, I've obeyed, and what has it gotten me?  I'm one paycheck away from being homeless.  I have a lot of people who love me, but that just translates into a deeper level of responsibility for me.  I sit in front of this computer and type hospital records for 10-12 hours a day, and I'm just almost maintaining what I have.  It's slowly eroding and the knowledge that it's slipping is plaguing me.  I know I'll be working until the day I die, because I've been too busy dealing with the emergencies of every day to save up for retirement.

Everyday I get up and wonder why I'm doing this.  If we all turned to a life of crime, the worst case scenario is that we'd end up in incarcerated, and I know from the hospital records I've been transcribing, that incarcerated inmates have healthcare!  Incarcerated inmates get college benefits.  They have a roof over their heads, and don't worry about where their next meal is coming from.  What kind of absurd world do we live in where hustlers and thieves are well cared for, and honest, sincere people are left to the wild?

And people wonder why I lost faith in God.

God has nothing to do with the state our country is in now.

We have become a throw away society. If something is broke we buy a new one instead of fixing what we have. We don't want to be bothered by the problems and time it would take to fix something. Oh we like to bitch about every thing that is wrong with our government and would love to see something done about it as long as it's some one else that does the fixing.

No one wants to have to give up any thing. No one wants to suffer or go with out. We are a lazy nation.  We have had it to easy for to long. We will set around bitching about the price of gas Yet every one still flocks to the gas station to buy gas for their gas guzzling cars. If we don't have the money to buy something we just put it on plastic. I Know there are times a person has to use a credit card to buy a large purchase but come on it's pretty sad when we buy small items like burgers and fries at McDonalds or buy 3 spools of thread or candy bars.

We bitch about the high rate we pay for the credit cards (even though we have 10 or so in our wallet)  Now tell me whose fault is it that the credit card companies get away with the high interest rates they charge. Oh I forgot yeah they twist our arms and hold a gun to our heads.

It's time for the people to do some thing besides bitch about it. The problem is as I said before NO ONE WANTS to give up any thing.

Only two ways I can see to change things.  By  "REVOLUTION" as some one already suggested. Hit the government where it hurts. Every one stop paying taxes. See how our blood sucking government leeches like going with out food or clothes

By Force Demand that the blood suckers step down from office and Vote others into office. By vote I mean by the people. What a thought Actually have the people vote some one into office.

Read what I wrote above, Murex.

I wish I could have just one hour alone with them. Not one word would I say.

(Put your taxes into an escrow account)  Been there done that (sort of)   200 of us refused to pay taxes for 5 years. Long story short we lost in the end (why? a lot of reason) Mostly there wasn't a enough of us.

Most of the people on here don't even know that we haven't always had income taxes. How many know when our income taxes started (with out googleing it) Or why it was started in the first place.
