Sins of a Solar Empire v1.12 Change Log

Fixing the things that made it past the net...

Ironclad and Stardock will soon be releasing v1.12 of Sins of a Solar Empire via Impulse (http://www.impulsedriven.com). This updated version resolves some bugs that made it past prior testing and also prepares the game for the upcoming Entrenchment micro-expansion.

Sins of a Solar Empire v1.12 Changes:

  • Gameplay / Balance -
    • Fixed bad toggle ability behavior exemplified by the Vasari Assailant.
    • Fixed ability created squads and fighters from being included in the stats system (thus potentially showing negative values).
    • Fixed tutorial bug where tutorial failed to advance when building a gauss cannon.
    • Fixed exploit where players could view the bounty on a planet infocard to determine the owner.
  • Networking / Multiplayer -
    • Fixed sync bug caused by bad market system variable initialization.
    • Fixed bug that made clients show that they had joined a game lobby they had been rejected from.
    • Fixed being able to add multiple copies of the same friend to your friend's list.
    • Changed a few confusing network related strings.
  • Misc. -
    • Converted some old meshes to binary.

Please fix the RAM limit, apparently SINS crashes when you use 2gig or more.

This should be a priority.

It's a 32-bit application.  (The other 2GB is reserved for kernel space-you can modify it to 3GB application/1GB kernel, but I believe you have to modify the exe.)

Shouldn't take long to fix then, shouldn't it :)

First, Stardock cannot fixe windows... these limit are related to the operating system, no the game itself...

for the 3gb , don't need to modify any .exe ... open your boot.ini and add the "/3g" in your boot line... if you have a processor newer that the pentium pro, and 4 gb ram, enable the "/PAE"... it is the 36 bits mode who allow you to move the memory address used by material over the 4g limit...

Win x64 and Vista x64 emulate a 32 bitsystem via Wow64 if a application is 32 bits... the limit is 4gb by application in these case...

The only thing that Stardock need to fix is the memory leak...

The game was running fine and there were no slow downs.

That should not be required for a game like this.

I feel like there was a memory leak.

I remember simular problems in SupCom.

I don't remember any other game that played up as much.

Please fix online dysnc and mini dumps. They ruin the online and frankly this game is going to die off very quickly even with all the free advertising if it isnt fixed.

List of common problems with tech and mulitplayer

1.Can't Log In

2.Desync

3.Disconnection

4.ICO offline

5.NO PLAYERS

6.Game Crashes (normally VISTA related)

7.Graphical Errors or Runtime Errors

All of these are issues that need to be adressed before and expansion pact of any kind. I suggest working on technical support issues related to VISTA and outsorcing your online servers to a third party. Seriously this would solve a lot of issues here. Compatability issues are many times due to the player but a larger tech support FAQ would solve that very eaisly.

These are my suggestions does anyone else have some?

Because, to get the most out of the sins experience,  play online is what its all about..A challenge!! Also the number of online players is growing steadily and only a matter of a short time when the bugs are addressed and fixed. At least we have a fantastic effort from ICO to address, listen and act promptly.Take a look at the forums, they are always there to offer assisstance..

I installed the game from disk and then downloaded the 1.12 update via Impulse last night. For the last 12 hours I've been seeing a "Verifing Download" status.

Any suggestions?

I also have attempted today to install the 1.12 update via Impulse and have been seeing a "Verifying Download" status for hours. When I right click and verify installation, I get a message saying that the update has not been installed.

Make sure impulse is up to date, because it will affect the verifying time, it happened to me before

just to be sure, what is the resource exploit?
