Tutorial With Modding(Modelling AND Modding)?

I am a straight out newbie as far as modelling, and I don't even know what programs the people here use, or how to use them.

 

As far as modding, I know the tiniest bit about SCRIPTING in the LUA language, but seeing as I do not know the coding language for Sins mods, I don't know if I can apply that.

 

If anyone can give me links or otherwise articles to help me out here, it would be much appreciated.

 

Note: I had problems with the stickied tutorial, so don't complain about there being no reason to start a new thread.  There is good reason.  My problems were, to be exact... In whatever program I tried to open it in, it would try to put the file into an empty file on that program, then, it crashes and error messages unrelating to the crash pop up 5 minutes later.

You can download forge tools fromt his site (downloads tab). That has some PDF's that explains about coding and some modeling.

 

I use XSI. You can download a free modding version that should give you all the bells and whistles you'll need for simple moddeling.

when I checked the site suggested in the "tutorial" thread (pinned) it wouldn't let me download it, saying that the page was under maintainance until early December 2008
