Updating Products...

I requested a mail with my purchases & serials so I could get the updated versions of products I purchased.

In the mail I recieved, I used download links to update all my products,
EXCEPT CursorFX which had had this to say:
Product Name  : CursorFX Plus
User Name     : *********** ******
Download      : http://www.impulsedriven.com/about.asp (Install Impulse and use serial)

Install Impulse?  WTF?
1. I could download ALL other products I purchased, and install them on my offline Computer.
2. My Offline Computer is... wait for it... OFFLINE!
    So how the hell am I supposed to install Impulse and download the latest version of CursorFX?
3. I neither have nor do I (ever) want Impulse.

So, the question now is, how do I download the latest version of CursorFX?

I didn't say anything was wrong with Impulse, I just don't want it.
AND, I cannot install and use Impule on my Desktop computer, when said computer is, and stays, OFFLINE!

And since I was able to download CursorFX through an e-mail link when I purchased it, I don't see why I cannot do so now.
This way, I can save it to a Thumbdrive, and install it from there to my Desktop System.

Also, I figured since this is the Stardock Support section,
that this is where I post this issue.  But whatever...

You used an online computer to obtain cursorfx the first time [via email and d/l]....so there's not a great deal of difference with Impulse...as you still would need to be online on a machine 'somewhere'...;)

I understood that quite well, M-203, however, the bit about stressing the machine you wanted to have cursorfx on was/is never connected to the net 'OFFLINE' [your bolding] is not going to be subjugated by the use of Impulse on the 'other' machine....;)

Let's put it this way:
I have an offline computer using CursorFX, I wish to update CursorFX.
How do I go about doing so?  I do NOT have Impulse, I do not want Impulse,
so where can I get/request a download link such as the one I got when I purchased CursorFX?

Let's assume for a minute I wish to purchase Object Desktop 2009 Ultimate,
can I do so WITHOUT Impulse?
As in, after purchase can I download a complete, non-Impulse, installer package?

when you request CFX via support, don't forget to mention you need the offline activation procedure

ummm... Impulse is the installer package.  ObjectDesktop doesn't come as an all-in-one installer, it's various standalone apps.  You can always order the CD, but you'll still need to get online via Impulse (or SDC for a while) in order to get updates.

No.  Impulse will have to connect one time on the off-line computer.

Once Impulse is activated all you need is in the Impulse-archived file.

I believe some reg keys are left behind.

 

Stardock is workin on a system to allow for totally off-line activation.  Because Impulse  is a storefront and digital download system for other developer's app this has to be secure enough for them to feel comfortable with.  It takes time.

Thanks for that info, I guess I'll have to wait until that's available then.
Because my offline computer is in no way connected to the internet or any network, and never will be.
That's the whole point of having an offline computer.

NOTHING gets on that computer, without being run through at least 2 different Virus-Scanner packages.
And then is only transferred per USB stick.
The only way any kind of Virus, Trojan or anything else like that, is gonna get on that puppy,
is if someone physically breaks into my place, can boot up my offline computer,
bypass the logon password, and copy it over from a USB Stick or CD/DVD.
And by the time they got that far, I'm sure I'd have woken up by then...

No, not at all, actually, ever since I started back in the Sinclair ZX81 (you may have to Google that) days,
I've only crash 'n' burned twice, once due to stupidity, and once due to fatigue.

My security is kind of habit, having 1 online and 1 offline computer, and kind of a leftover from my Military time.
I could tell you what I used to do in the Military  , but then I'd have to kill you...

It's actually very relaxing knowing that you can work on a computer,
without having to worry about Trojans, Viruses, Phishing etc.

My apologies to stardock and the OP, but I wouldn't let *any* non essential software touch my military grade security offline computer. That makes installation of *all* stardock products a big no no. :)

(Oh btw... I don't even have a military grade security offline computer... If I did, I wouldn't tell you anyway though... Otherwise I might have to kill you... And since you're not dead yet, you can safely believe me when I say I don't have one. ;p )

Probably....but there's just so much of a computer's existence that is reliant on Internet connectivity/networking/communication....

...so much so that an unconnected computer is only really any good if you have two...

Well, let me put it this way, I do what I do on my Offline computer,
and it has been, and still is running XP, and that for over 5 years,
WITHOUT even a hint of having to reinstall, clean Viruses/Spyware or whatever.
No service pack, and because it runs so smoothly,
and most of the MS Updates are security-related,
I've not needed to patch anything.

My Online computer however.....       .... a complete mess!
