Unable to activate windowblinds 6.3

Just had to reinstall my operating system and now trying to reinstall windowblinds 6.3, it installs but then I get an error while trying to activate. Installed it using impulse as well as stand alone installer with the same result.

What exactly is the error you're getting?  I looked up your activation counts and you haven't hit the limit for any of your apps.  Are you entering the correct e-mail address and serial number?  If you need to double check what they are, visit https://www.stardock.com/support and enter your e-mail address in the field on this page to have all your info e-mailed to you.  Also, check your registrations in Impulse and make sure you have one for WindowBlinds listed, and that it's not trying to install from your expired Object Desktop Subscription.

You both have an error known only to you.....o_O

Turn off your security apps until it activates (only has to do it once).

yrag's right.  There's now way to tell if you're having the same issue until you tell us what the error message you're getting is.  Also, security apps can sometimes block activation (little .exe file + network connection + encrypted info transfered = makes heuristic protection go NUTS sometimes)

I requested a serial number look up and that's where I got the email address and serial numbers from. This is what I get after supplying the correct info.

Application start: 2008-10-6 2.39.58

Silent mode

Mode 1, short info

Submitting activation request...

Result parsing error (2)

Error activating the product

Please check the serial number that you have entered and ensure that it is associated with the email you used. Try to activate the product again. If you are using Stardock Central you can right-click on the product and attempt to activate without reinstalling. Please include this log file when contacting [email protected].

Using silent activation with null serial mode.

After all this I get an "Error Activating Product".

I'm having the same problem. Exactly the same, except I'm a brand new user.

Any punctuation or mathematical symbols in your passwords?

All the "protection" software is turned off, by the way. Just my opinion, but I think 6.3.whatever is not yet stable. However, it's the only option I have if I'm going to install it through Impulse.

...and you have .NET Framework 2.0 and IE7 installed...correct?

I have a ticket out for this. I've had bad luck with "registration" before with other companies after paying for something. I wouldn't mind "registration" if it always worked, but it seems to not work most of the time, speaking in general. Frankly, I have my doubts about whether or not I will ever get support help that actually works, but that is not from "Stardock" experience, just general experience. Right now, all I can go on is that I paid for something, found that it didn't work, reinstalled it about 4 times, tried to register about 13 times, found a forum, found a forum post talking about "Impulse," which was NOT mentioned in the email I got when I paid for this product, uninstalled it, restarted, cleaned my restistry, restared again for about the tenth time, installed impulse, registered with Stardock, installed Windowblinds AGAIN, and found that it STILL won't register. I believe it's been about 4 hours.

You see, when somebody gets on a computer, tests out something until they decide it's actually worth paying for, risks making that transaction over the internet, and then risks WHATEVER they might be installing on their hard drives, they really don't want to WAIT for support. They want it to work. They don't want it to work after 4 hours of restarting and searching through forums--this is not LINUX--and then waiting a few days for support to get around to working on it, and then a few more for them to get the RIGHT answer back to them. They want it to work NOW.

I'm not in a very good mood. You get the idea.

If that's true try this: Install: http://storage.stardock.com/files/sdcentral_setup.exe  and input your registration info in lower right. Let it activate, close and then go back to using Impulse. Both programs can be on the same system.

.Net version 2.whatever was installed, but set to "manual," not automatic. It is now on automatic and stared.

I understand your frustration....the fact it works on literally millions of machines flawlessly is small consolation when it's not working on your's.... give #13 a try and don't install/un-install anymore....one way or the other we'll come up with the answer.

"NET on Manual" is correct.

Just a thought....you don't have Spybot S&D (or any other app) installed with locked host files, do you?

OK, I tried, but no luck. Tried installing free object dock just to get something working, but it didn't help with WB. That taskbar is the coolest thing I've ever seen, though. Still getting the same "Parsing error (2)" and no registration.

OK, I turned off the hosts file protection in Spybot and un-immunized everything. Also made sure that the hosts file can be written to. I uninstalled WB again, restarted, cleaned the registry, and reinstalled it again. Still no go, same error upon registration attempts.

Does WB really need access to the hosts file? :omg:

Only protection still turned on is the "hardware" firewall in the router. I can't bypass that, because it's a Sprint data card that only plugs into the router. I could turn off the firewall through the 168.?.?.? admin. website, but I don't actually see that being the problem.

Not real familiar with Spyware Doctor, but doesn't it have a script blocker and Registry Guard?

BTW: Don't un-install it.

Search your drive and see if "sig6.bin", "sig.bin" or "Activate" shows anywhere.

Along with a lot of other things. I just turned it back on in order to manually turn off everything. That's when I got a certain pop-up windows from Windowblinds for the first time, saying that it must restart after the most recent installation. Maybe this is it. I'm going to restart again.
