Updated German Version with Impulse. Now String Error

Hi,

I've bought a germen version of Sins of a Solar Empire here in an job in Germany. After I have loaded and installed the patch all Strings are missing. There is only a error text on each button.

When I rename the Englisch-String file to German I can play in English, but when I bought a germen version I prefer to play german. Is there a germen textfile mod I can use?

Hi Myxim,

i´m also searching for a german v1.1 beta german string file, wondering why dev´s dont support multilanguage at "rollout"... all we can do is to sit and wait for someone done this part.

In meantime, i´ll try to code some "Translator" wich tries to find differences between new strings and old strings, helping me translate new strings to another language.

Greetz,

Ray

Hi All :P

I finished my program to merge the old german translation with other translation, adding missing strings to the german file. So what you get is a 90 percent translated file, some text is still english.

Heres the link: (Rightclick and "Save target to ...")

German.str.105 (100% translated, original german translation)

German.str.1.1b2 (90% translated, merged from English.str 1.1b2 and german translation above)

Install: Copy file your sins - installation folder under "Strings". Make a backup from "English.str". Rename the corresponding file to "English.str" and play the game ;)

If someone is interessted to play with german sounds - i´ve created a downloadable archive wich includes all sounds of sins, all you gonna do is replace the packed "Sounds" folder with your original sounds folder. Please pm me if you like ;)

Greetz,

Ray

We don't have any in-house translators; that is done by the Europe publisher (Kalypso in this case) at their option.

Hi kyro!

no problem, your interface for translations is pretty simple, so we can translate by ourself ;) I'm wondering how Kalypso handles "ä ö ü" in German words? These words where displayed as "String not found". Is there some sort of Unicode - Build or something? Other fonts?

That may well be the case, though I do not know the details.

ahhh just got it worked. ö ä and ü are now in latest translation included :)

Thanks a lot for your work :)

It won't be a problem when a new patch change some of the translation to english, but it is not fine that the descriped error occures when i use impulse and it patch my version in a way, that somebody without a little bit knowladge of programming and/or computer can't use his buied game any more. In this way it would be better when the patch routine changed the language total in english.

yeah you´re right - they should update everything, even the language - files (After a warning?).
