WindowBlinds not even opening.

HELP D:<

Hey guys, I've recently had a problem with my WB (Today). For some reason when I try to open it, it keeps giving me the popup that says "WB6 Needs to be rebooted blah blah" Even though I uninstalled and rebooted it like 4 times, it's starting to cheese me off. I also clicked the "Use more processes" button to hope it would work but to no avail. I also tried deleting my antivirus and trying to reinstall WB but it still will not work. I think that this problem might have something to do with my windows xp security update or something... no idea really, can anyone help me here? D: I hate having my desktop loooking so uglu -____-

 that is an annoying problem.

When you have uninstalled it, did you run a clean up program like CCleaner and then reboot before reinstalling and then reboot one more time before trying to run WB?

How are you trying to install WB, using Stardock Central or Impulse?

Um, no I haven't used any cleanup programs after uninstalling WB, I suppose I should try. And I install WB using the .exe file I downloaded from the stardock site.

FooBoo I'm going to suggest that you download Impulse from here  http://www.impulsedriven.com/

Try installing WB using Impulse.  If you are not familiar with it, do a little reading on it.  Think of it as a fancy download installer.

Alright, I'll try that, the funny thing is that I'm posting right now through impulse :P Idk how to install programs through impulse yet but I'll just play around and eventually get it, thanks for the advice!

Okay, downloading WB through impulse and installing it doesn't solve the problem, can anyone still help me? ):

The reboot problem has come up before, just can't remember how it was taken care of.  Looks like it's time for you to email [email protected].  They should have a fix for this.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Well actually, I might be doing it wrong, is there certain way to install WB using SDC? Because All I can do is download the demo, and install it via firefox and the .exe file, I can't install it via SDC.

Just recently ran into the same problem mentioned in the original post.  But my problem is solved for the time being.

What I found is that for several versions now, I cannot update WindowBlinds without running into this problem.  Platform is Vista Business w/ SP1 x86 running Impulse for managing app installs and updates.  I've no anti-virus or anti-malware programs running in the background.  In fact, there isn't anything out of the ordinary that should interfere with software installs.

What I ended up doing, which seem to have worked around the persistent problem, is uninstall WindowBlinds, reboot, install WindowBlinds, and reboot.  But why should I have to go through all that process when a mere update went fine?  It's tiresome having to go through this process just to update it.  Either WB or Impulse needs to handle the update process better so I don't have to run into this problem again.

End of quote

SDC > tools > register products

highlight 'object desktop' on the left

if your Windowblinds was a separate purchase (not part of a full OjectDesktop) then pull down down the drop down for "Product" on the right and find the version you paid for and are entitled to

enter the email associated with your purchase and the serial you were sent

then click update

once updated then use SDC to download/install WB
