[Feedback] HDD making noise while playing

anyone else ?

Hello.

Not any problem encountered at this day, excepted some lags while playing, as some other users have reported.

Laptop configuration :

Turion 64 X2 TL-62 @ 2.1 GHz, 2 GB of DDR2

SATA HDD (with 10 GB free space on Windows XP Business - my 'Game OS')

ATI HD 2600  (512MB)

After about 8 games, something strange occured while playing : I've heard the HDD making some scratchy noises, as if he was dying. So, I've Alt-tabbed back to Windows, and the noises suddenly stopped. Alt-tab to the game, then the noises came back. The HDD has been making scratchy noises for about 5 minutes, stopping when I Alt-tabbed to Win XP, resuming when I Alt-tabbed to the game.

This occured withtout any other problem : no freeze/lag/crash, no HDD problem (I've used some linux utilities to check detailed SMART info).

It has occured only once, I have played 2 more games without any problem...

Try it with other games. I'm sure it'll do the same there as well, because one game shouldn't cause death of an HDD (unless it uses Starforce or something...)

it was probably windows update

If you check on Demigod in task manager, is it digging into the virtual memory? That'd be my first guess.

Hey kryo, does Demigod still use XACT as its sound system? IIRC, XACT caused alot of problems with hard drive usage and surround.

Sounds like it's page faulting a lot, not dying.  I don't have this problem with Demigods, but I do with Chrome <_<  .

Let's just get over the fact that we can't properly express that maps are intrinsically female in English.
