Suggestion: Fix Regulus

This is just an idea to improve one of the power's that Regulus has. The attack where he jumps in the air with his wings and does 250 (starting) damage in an area around him just doesn't fit his character. Most people would say that it's a good power if he gets surrounded, but as a sniper, he shouldnt have let himself get surrounded in the first place.

I think you should replace the power with an ability that has him jump/fly into the air and sniper shot anywhere visible on the field. This would allow him to give support from a distince to teamates who need help with an enemy hero, kill fleeing enemy heroes, and it really fits his fast moving, strong attack, trickster kind of character.

Also, I have found a problem that, I'm not sure if this is just him, bugs me. When using your angelic fury (the attack described above), which is an instant, and you get frozen by the torchbearer lets say; you still use the power, but now your frozen and the animations of you jumping and spreading your wings dont happen, or you get frozen in that form.

it would be nice to have that fixed, to either not do the attack, or to null the freeze effects, or something of that sort.

His PBAoE is actually a great ability to coincide with his bomb placing ability.  I use it to clear out the soldiers, place a bomb, and move back to a sniping position before heavier creeps move in.

If it was replaced, I'd prefer a short range cone attack AoE with a stun or a knockback using his crossbow.  Call is Burista for all I care.

Both those ideas make sense,

Come to think of it, moving in as a sniper just didn't feel natural or right to me.

IMO Rook > Mage > Regulus right now (But balance is a totally different topic, sorry heh :P)

I agree and I would love to see it on another Demigod, it just doesn't fit this one in particular.

If you look at his backstory, he used to have wings, so it's legitimate, plot-wise. And he's woefully poor on area-attacks, so he needs *something* to fall back on. If you look at the cooldown time on the move, it's clearly intended to create breathing space so he can retreat, rather than actually serve as a practical offensive weapon.

That said, maybe have him use his wings to jump up and just leave a bunch of bombs/mines behind that explode before he lands again? Might fit his image a little better.

I think there shoud be couple of skills including the wings, here is my suggestions (not have to include them all):

  the one there is now

the one you suggested only you stay in the air for about 10 seconds have few snipes with a higher rate and damege (long cooldown)

simple jump for getting in and out fast (low cooldown)

the one there is now only you can mark the playe you will land and do the damage(can replace the first one)

the jump abilty with the traps like was suggested here

that said after i think every demigod shoud have more skills.

I think that skill is very useful and needed. I'd hate to see it removed as it's really his last ditch getaway move.

And the animation for it is just awesome.

I think it was a design decision to give all of the Demigods an AoE skill.

I think it's fine, anyways..

It's really something he needs, because getting dismembered by creeps in melee is just humiliating, and he needs something if his ranged firepower doesn't slow them down. Without that, if he's in melee, he's toast, and he's got nothing for last ditch protection.

He's a sniper. If the player is stupid enough to get caught in one of those attacks, they deserve their death. It's called natural selection.

I, like most others it seems, disagree.  While I'm not sure the skill is "needed" (you can also selectively slow down units as you run away), it definitely fits his character story, and it's fun as hell.  I would be severely disappointed if this was taken away as I think it's a really fun addition to his character in both story and gameplay.  Taking him and giving him a ton of generic sniper skills would make him a lot less fun.

You seem to want to make him a pure sniper, and if that's the case, you really need to ditch the mines too.  I really think the problem you're having is that he's really not a sniper, he's a soldier that snipes, lays mines, and knocks the crap out of people with his wings... he's more like a commando.

The AoE-Thing is something i noticed very fast. AoE in Demigod is even more important than in Dota - that means alot if you play it.

But it makes sense. While Dota is more a tactic game, where every action counts. Demigod is more "epic" and more on a strategic level, where not only demigod vs demigod clashes count. Can't say it's good or bad - it's just diffrent :)

@Remulus

No, plz dont make him to a sole lame sniper. As stated in an other post, hes a fine mix between two dota heros + extra stuff. He got a nice intuitive playstyle and is fun to play, because its more than a little bit pewpew and then another pewpew with diffrent effect. All 3 Heros are flawless in terms of design choices in my oppinon.

Btw; His slow abilitie is overpowerd as hell. Also stated in my feedback-Thread

Some of you are trying very hard to come up with unique skills Regulus can use with temporary wings.  Is there anything wrong with using them to, I don't know, fly?  If not actual flight, then some form of transportation?

That aside, I like the AoE skill already in the game.  He doesn't have enough health and the range is to small to effectively use it offensively, but it is perfect for when you get overrun with creeps.  It does enough damage to take out pretty much anything next to you and it gives you the space to get out of there.  As people said, he's more of a commando than a sniper.

If they removed this ability and changed it to another sniping ability then he would be played only one way. I hope they do not do that.

Exactly. I see the wings as an ability on the other end from sniping. Much more of a techie approach. Lay a ton of heavily upgraded mines, lure enemies to you and hit the wings if you didn't lay enough. This is in contrast to the sniper with stat boosts for durability or the sniper with heavy mines to avoid getting overrrun. All three are (theoretically) viable builds, and will be, once the balance is set up right for his abilities. I like that choice.

Now wait, i can understand your point of view, but the power doesnt fit him at all. You said it yourselves, he doesnt have much health. He does need revamping at least, and agian, if you really are bad enoguh to get cought by creeps, you kind of deserve to die. I can agree it's a great power, and it looks amazing. But there are things that would fit him better. I'm not saying that I'm right with a powered up snipe ability. But I think he needs sometihing that fits his trickster style of play. He isn't quite a commando, they gave him the ability to support his fellow demigods well. Almost every time I've used that power, i had to charge in, and was then pretty much massacered by whatever demigod was nearby. The power is to weak to realy effect demigods, and has to long a cooldown to be  really effective aginst big onslaughts of enemies. They really should give him something that more fits his character, and he can use to support. He is the closes thing to a support you can get. His power is just kind of random for him. It's not really a build since he's gotten his ass handed to him up to that point. It's true in Demigod, they've made AoE super important, but they also gave him a power that just doesnt do as much as it shoul=d for the level, I say stick with a support/hero killer, since he's pretty bad at anything else.

Infact, yes the cooldown is pretty high, but still very good to clear creeps. Imo, the reason why he has this spell, isn't implemented yet.

This skill will be great for redeeming General army's, i guess. So before we demand an early change, let the Generals take a seat at the divine table.
