Why are the stats so inconsistent / inaccurate?

I lose more than I win in this game still and it seems my biggest problem is falling behind in technology. So I am trying to use graphs and stats to check how I compare in tech (among other things) and they are inconsistent. The grpah on the main screen (the one showing all civs at once) shows me at one level and then I view my ranking in the domestic stats screen and it usually tells something very different. Which is correct?

I love this game but if there is any part of it that to me has needed some serious work its in the stats and rankings. You can't rely on any of them. It makes it difficult to determine what you are behind in and what you shoulod do to improve.

This had me confused for a while as well. The problem is that the tech graph on the main screen and the tech ranking in the stats screen do not measure the same thing. The tech graph on the main screen only measure how much money you are currently spending on research. You can check this yourself by setting you research slider to 100% for a few turn, then a 0% for a few turns.

So you are saying that the military and tech graphs on the main screen compare amounts spent by the civs? Why is that meaningful? And also, where is the social graph then since that is the other thing that your economy allocates. I will check it out but it doesn't make much sense to me.

Yes, the tech graphs compare amounts spent. First, you shouldn´t even know this, second, it´s irrelevant. The graphs would be more meaningful if they compared the number/value of the techs the civs *have*. :notsure:

Also, in the early game the adviser always says you are behind technologically, even if you are #1! LOL

Yep I totally agree this should be changed! I already posted a message in the 'bugs/ suggestions' thread for the 1.01 version, but they didn't change it (:(
