Help with the map editor

I'd like to create a map with specific planets and phase lane positioning, but it doesn't seem possible to do this with the map editor provided, it just basically makes a custom random map. How would I go about making a map like, say Close Encounters or Gaian Cresent?
There's a quick guide to Galaxy Forge stickied in the modding forum I think.
