NEWB question about building a Vista Ready skin...

Hello all -

Well, I admit it, I'm old, out-of-date, stuck in old technology land, etc.

Been using the Crystal skin on WXP for ages now.  Finally broke down and installed Vista (then I broke down again, and again, and again.)  Now, I've got Vista quasi-stable and functional and WB works fine.

I want to build my own skin using Studio Pro.  But, I'm way behind the times on knowledge of graphics/imaging terms and technology, so please can someone point me to information on how one goes about creating a 'per pixel' image?  And, am I correct in thinking that this is all I need to get the blur/transparency affect?  (and... Can I create such an image using GIMP?).

What else goes into the definition of a 'vista ready' skin?

Many thanks in advance

Your best bet is to open a skin in Skinstudio and see how it's put together.
You should skin the UIS2 frames as well as the per pixel ones.
You can use GIMP to make a blind. That's all I use. :D
Vista Ready, in simple terms, means it has the Vista parts skinned.

Best to open up a fully skinned Vista WB and look whats different to the XP substyle.
