Has anyone else noticed that

1  one of the ai empires gets a huge jump ahead of everyone on the first turn of the game.

2  some of the empires build things before the first turn is even played.

1 - jump ahead in what? If it's population and we are talking about the Torians here, then that's just logical

2 - actually they all should. It's my understanding that the AIs take their turns before you do.

Herodias is correct re. point 2 - all the AIs complete their turn first, and when you hit "End Turn" for the first time, the AIs then perform their 2nd turn.

Re. point 1 - you need to specify what form this "jump ahead" is taking. Do you mean in their apparent area of influence? If so, then it is likely that AI has selected influence bonuses or the political party that gives +inf.

point 1 in power.

They might take their turns before you but they should wait to have their builds until after you push the end turn button.

If I recall correctly at one time every time you reload the game the AI gets a turn which could result in the AI getting many turns in one "turn" if multiple save/reloads occured prior to pressing end turn.

I know this was an issue at one time and I also know that there was a change put in DA v1.6 to address this as evidenced by the change log.

+ TWEAK: Made a slight change to the code that starts the AI threads which may help with the AI seeming to get a free turn at the start of a new game or when loading a save game.
End of quote

However I don't know for sure if this issue has been totally fixed or not.

Well, population/tech/social etc all would contribute to power. Due to answer to #2, this would play a big part in their power jump.

As also mentioned, the torians would have a huge population jump due to their super ability.

problem 1 it is never the same empire twice in a row. I have even had my custom enemy have it.
