What Upcoming Games Are You Looking Forward To?

Make a list!

We are just over the first half of the year, and the fall and winter lineup of games is really starting to take shape.  What are some of the upcoming games you are looking most forward to?  Here's my list.

  1. Demigod
  2. Spore
  3. GhostBusters
  4. Aliens: Colonial Marines
  5. C&C: Red Alert 3

There are quite a few more, but I just can't think of the names right now. [more]

X3 - Terran Conflict (a year or so after release)
End of quote

Woot! I wouldn't wait a year, Egosoft has (hopefully) learned their lesson since the X3 Reunion fiasco.

Right now, thats the only game I'm looking forward to right now.

DemiGod over all other titles out there. I just see soo much innovation there, and the rare co-op  mode is just what gamers love. I never understood a lot of publishers leaving this one multiplayer option out. The first thing people ask about multiplayer is if its got Co-op. That should be a hint that its a very much requested feature. DemiGod is on the front of the list of my next buys.

X:3's addon sounds good, but I dont think they learned to finish a product before you release it, and I wont buy anything without finding out what DRM they are using, who knows, it may be SecuRom with activation limits this time instead of Starforce. The first sign Ive seen is they refuse to acknowledge they have non standard codecs. They refuse to even address it, so to me, its like they learned nothing at all. This is a wait and see title for me, actually all PC games that are non Stardock are wait and see's now. Its a scary world out there with the guessing games with DRMs.

X3 Terran Conflict isn't an add on, it's a whole separate game that uses an updated version of the X3 engine, so it technically isn't the same game. About what you said about DRM, Egosoft (X3's dev team) removed Starforce because they found out how it was. I've also heard that they knew about the Spore fiasco (BIG MISTAKE, EA!!!) so I don't think they will use DRM, or at least one that doesn't destroy your system (Starforce) or install spyware (SecuRom). Really looking forward to X3 TC, even though there STILL isn't word about a U.S. publisher (Egosoft is really reluctant to give details). Hopefully it will revitalize the space sim genre. It looks like an amazing game.

As for Spore, you have to admit that there was WAY to much hype. Many gamers are really disappointed. I mean, EA says that it will redefine PC games, so a lot of hype builds up, and then they annouce SecuRom will install with it, and THEN gamers find out that it's not what the hype says. EA basically shot itself in the foot with SecuRom. Putting something like that on a major title is practically begging pirates to do their dirty work. 500,000 illegal downloads and counting!

Oh and I'm looking forward to Cities XL.

What's extra-evil about EA is that the most recent patch for Spore actually addresses some of the space-stage stagnation, but you can only get it with the EA Download Manager and a legitmate copy.

Funny how anyone who playtested for EA would've noticed that Space is unplayable in the way it went gold, then very shortly after a patch that makes it playable is released, but only through thier Download Manager.

Curious, if you ask me. >_>

Back to topics:

Empire: Total War - A Total War game set during the colonization of America, including the Revolutionary War?  With full naval combat and co-op online campaigns?  This game was sold to me when it was conceptualized.

Left4Dead - Got a whole group to help me kill some zombies when this drops.

Diablo 3 - Nuff' said.

Starcraft 2 - Again, nuff' said.

I may be the odd man out in that I'm not particularly stoked for Demigod - I played some DOTA in WC3 and didn't like the fact that it seemed to be "level up on hordes of NPCs so you can fight another player."
If it has a players versus NPC hordes mode I'll be more interested.

Sorry, I know this is late, but since the thread appears to have been dug up, and the quoted comment confused me greatly, I am asking a month late:

Quoting Iceciro, reply 6

End of Iceciro's quote
Isn't that exactly what Stardock does?

Cities XL

Diablo III

For all of you that said you were looking foward to Spore, how did it live up to your expectations of what you thought it would be as far as it being a game.  I wasn't looking forward to it and said after I saw a video of it, that I agreed with the video reviewer, it seemed more like an educational tool of sorts than it did a game of any sort.  Yeah I did buy Spore and I feel even more so today and think the manufacturer of the disks simply made a mistake, he forgot to include the "fun and game" folder out of the installation folders on the installation dvd, so they can surely add in fun and game  to the game, because it is severly missing in my opinion which seems to coincide with many many other peoples opinions who own the game.

My new expectations are Demigod, Cities XL, the newest version of Mount & Blade, and several others I can't think of right away.

X3: Terran Conflict is out, and it SUCKS!!! >:(  Most disappointing game of my life. So much for the future of the space sim genre...

BTW, Ghostbusters may never be released. The publisher got rid of the developing team. Bummer.

X3's patch is out, and the game is much better now. Still disappointed in Egosoft for letting so many bugs escape.

What disappointed so many fans was how different X3 is from the other X games. Everything is much faster paced now. I'm getting used to it, and like it now. Ignore my last comment.
