Disciples 2 Ultimate Edition

Launcher Crashes on run

Disciples 2 Ultimate Edition is actually "Disciples 2: rise of the elves", and "Disciples 2: galleon's return". each one installed in a seperate sub directory, each one is a stand alone game, and both run perfectly on vista64.

But the launcher created specifically for the ultimate edition (an applet that ask you which one you want to run, and then run it), crashes on run on vista64.

So, something should be done about the applet, since all it is really is a 2 button applet, each one running a different game, it shouldn't be a problem to fix.

It doesn't crash per se for me...all that happens i that the "DisciplesII (Ultimate)" tab appears in the task bar, and nothing else. The splash screen doesn't show up on my screen or anything. This is using Vista x64, and the latest version of Impulse to launch it.

yea, same here james... and then if i right click on the tab and select close, THEN it crashes...

But really, it is a luncher. shouldn't be hard to fix. I wonder if it is because of the audio drivers changes in vista.

yes vista 64, the launcher did not crash. I used to have problems with it, but I managed to get it working somehow... I really cannot remember what I did. I stopped playing the game for a while, and then a couple of days ago I got Impulse, decided to try it again, and somehow the problem disappeared. There was an update for that game on Impulse, that might have fixed the problem.

well, i just uninstall, deleted the directory, and reinstalled, same thing, nothing appears when i run the luncher except the taskbar item, when i right click on it and select close it changes to say closing, and then it crashes.

If I got into the directory, right click on it, and select WinXP SP2 compatibility mode it works. It can lunch the games, and it can close without crashing.

Anyways, are you supposed to get music when you run the luncher? I don't remember?

I still have Windows XP and ever since they upgraded to the impulse version of games, my D2 has not worked. I sent in stuff to tech support and all they said to do was run each game individually form the root directory, but that did noting either. I sure miss my llittle elves :(

I have Vista 64 ultimate. It didn't work for me at first either, just the window the taskbar, but it never maximized/intilialized, whatever. So I right clicked on the .exe and ran compatibility mode and put it in for WinXP w/ Service Pack 2 and it ran fine (albeit I only ran it for about 5 minutes just now, starting a campaign).
