Diplomatic Victory at first turn with 1.95

I'm having an issue with the latest build of TotA.  Starting a new game and on the first turn, when I press Turn I get a diplomatic victory.  The campaign is unaffected by this bug.  Going into the Foreign manager I can see the other civilizations right off the bat and my relationship between all of them is "Team".  I cannot break the treaty on the first turn as I do not have the Universal Translator tech to speak to the other civilizations.  In a new game I can disable the Alliance victory condition to work around this bug.  I uninstalled and reinstalled TotA but it did not correct the issue.  Even though I reinstalled my settings did not change so that may be where the issue is.  I went straight from 1.91 to 1.95, I did not install the alpha 1.92 between.  I used Impulse for the install.  When I installed Impulse on launch day it said TotA was not installed even though it was and I reinstalled TotA using Impulse for version 1.91 that same day overwriting the already installed Stardock Central version.  Is there a way to reset the settings only for TotA?  Maybe I just have a wonky setting.

try checking your settings in the race selection screen (where you select races to play against). maybe you accidentally changed the relations between you and the other races to "team"...i dunno...but it's worth a shot!

Until someone finds a for sure solution, turn of Diplomacy victory condition.

Any ideas? I got a PM saying that the Team status was unbreakable so even playing with the Alliance victory condidition disabled I still really can't play. Are there any specific keys I can delete in the registry Hive to reset TotA's configuration data? Like I said I already reinstalled but that did not reset the configuration (my preferences stayed).

Yeah, that was me - I didn't want something that important getting lost in a topic on a different subject. I didn't notice you had a separate topic for it.

AFAIK all you have to do is change the starting relations for each race during game start. The game remembers your setting, so changing them back to neutral once should reset them for future games as well.

You didn't mention whether or not you did what DSep said. That would definitely be the first thing to check.

And playing with the diplomacy victory off is just a bad idea. Everyone is still your friend. What kind of game would that be . . . ?

I looked through every single option for what DSep said and there is no place where you can specify your relation to the other players. Maybe in one of the editors you can but not the game. I'm playing a normal game, start new game, choose galaxy size and victory conditions, then go to customize race, then select number of opponents only then start game and all opponents are set to Team.

Add all the races in a new game, and configure them back to Unknown status before you begin. Teams are indeed unbreakable alliances.

The issue is I've looked at every single setting I can find and I do not know where to set them back to Unknown status! Please point out where it is to my poor addled brain :( :D

The options are in there when you choose your opponents. I'm at work so I can't remember off the top of my head, but the setting you want is definitely on the screen where you choose your opponents.

Thank you garion333, I wasn't seeing it because I had the randomized opponents option selected. Choosing specific opponents I was able to finally find the option to make them unknown. So now I have a specific work-around for the mean-time! Thanks again!

maybe i was just a little unclear because it was late, i was tired and i couldn't remember the exact name of the screen.

Yeah, I was being a bit thick there, should have read it more closely!

Since I changed the relations to Unknown I can also now start a game with randomized opponents and they will not be teamed with me. So, it's fixed 100%. First time I've had an issue with any GalCiv2 products - glad it was resolvable.

And a big thank you to Stardock for making GC - a great game, the Master of Orion II of our time!

It is in no way a "work-around". It's the problem, and you fixed it.

It wasn't an "issue" any more than if I set my resolution to 640x480 and was then upset that the resolution was so low!

Glad you got everything back to normal, though.

Yup it was me being dense. Although in my defense if you don't know what to do then it is an issue! ;) I'm just happy I can play I've been anticipating 1.95 since the 1.92 alpha and am loving it now I can play! Well back at it, just jumped out of the game to browse a few pages :)
