Lan hookup problems

I am running SoaSE on an XP and A Vista Machine.  The documentation tells me that I can run up to 2 machines on the one key no. but when I try to join a game created on the Vista machine (the XP machine does see the game) it comes back and says that it doesn't have all the files.  I have uninstalled the game from the XP machine and about to reinstall it, and see if that helps.  I believe that something may have happened in the initial install because the "download  Updates" button shuts the game down and  never goes online to the SoaSE  website.  I do know that to get my network at home to work (due to XP on one machine and Vista  on  the other) I had to  download a file from Microsoft. I did that already and it appears to have corrected that problem.  Any help  would be appreciated.
Thanks

If it's saying that you "don't have all the files", then that's exactly what the problem is. One copy is updated to a later version, or one copy has MODS enabled and one does not.

It really is a simple as that. :)

Thank you, the_Monk. Due to my problem with my website links on the menu telling me that they don't have a program associated with it and for me to create an association in the folder control panel, I was unable to go directly to the SotSE website and get 1.05 patch. Just copied from the other computer, and installed it. Now my lan networking connects....Thanks again, the_Monk
