Widgets don't show in ObjectBar 2

I'm using the trial version of ObjectBar 2, and modifying the Vista bar that comes with it. But I can't get any DesktopX Widgets to show up in it, other than the few that came with the ObjectBar trial.

When I try to add a basic widget like Sticky Notes that didn't come with the trial, it creates a small space for it but the space is blank. The widget also doesn't show up in the DesktopX list of loaded widgets, like it should.  All of the widgets work fine outside of ObjectBar though.

Is this because I need to buy a full version? Or is it a sign of some deeper problem that means I shouldn't buy it yet?

It seems like a problem with the widgets themselves, since only the ones that didn't come packaged with the trial don't work, and then they only don't work inside of ObjectBar.

PS I'm running Windows Vista (no Service Pack) on a laptop.

Raumohir the hsitory information for ObjectBar indicates that it should be compatible with Vista. Two thing's may be possible, bad download or it is a limitation of the trial version. Try uninstalling, run a clean up program like CCleaner and reboot. Reinstall ObjectBar and reboot again. If it still doesn't work it could be as I said a limitation of the trial version.

Just out of curoisity why aren't you using the Vista Sidebar? Or are you wanting to use both?

I'm on an XP system, have checked out ObjectBar, but I find using ObjectDock more to my liking. Yea I know they are not the same.  ;)

Hmm, thanks for the help guys, but I couldn't get anything to work. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling and even tried shelling out the $20 for the full version. Still doesn't work. I've switched to using DesktopX now instead to build my own bar. I hope I can get my $20 back.

Philly, the Vista Sidebar just didn't provide all the customization I was looking for. Google sidebar didn't either.

Raumohir that's what is nice about this software, you will find something that works for you.

About your other problem with ObjectBar, have you contact [email protected] yet? I would think they would have an answer for you. Give it a try if you haven't contact them.  ;)

I tested with a bunch of DX widgets/gadgets . . some worked and some didn't.
Being as how they are all exe's I'm not sure how to tell the difference without trying to edit using DX biulder.

I think widgets work but gadgets don't.

And what's again me.... I have the same problem with my ObjectBar under my Vista installation. If i make a new popup and put a DesktopX Widget inside.... The widget doesn't shown..... Only the Bars are working, they come with Objectbar. If i delete a widget, and create the same in the same bar.... Will not work....

It's the same, like my problem with the menus.... Nobody can help me.... :(

What version of Vista, 32 or 64 bit?  If you have Vista do you run the Vista Sidebar?

32 bit and no Sidebar.... Perhaps its the same problem like the menus? --> https://forums.stardock.com/321940/#2311999 --> https://forums.stardock.com/359082

Like I postet there.... I have testet so much.... Admin Rights, compatibly mode, etc.... Format C: and install ObjectBar on a clean Vista.... Nothing will work.... :(

Well looking at the requirements it looks like Object Bar should work with 32 bit Vista, I have 64 bit and haven't tried it.  Works find on the XP 32 bit system.  I liked in on the XP system because essentially you can make a sidebar.

I wonder if you might just have a bad install of Object Bar.  Try this, uninstall using Impulse, run a clean up program like CCleaner and reboot.  After rebooting turn off your A/V and security and do a new install.  Remember to turn back on your security.  See if that helps.

Yeah, great Philly !!!! :D

Now the DesktopX Widgets are working. Super thing....! :)

Thank you very much!

Only the menu problem is still there.... Have you any solutions there for?

But I'm really happy, that the DesktopX Widgets now are working. Thanks. :)

Well glad that helped get Object Bar working.

I'll take a look at the menu thread.

EDIT:  Try Object Bar now and see if the menu problem is still there.

No, doesn't work.

But how ever, it's more important, that the widgets now work. ;)
