Obama - "I see dead People"

The fact that he is still so popular simply baffles me.

It no longer baffles me. Most americans are very ignorant of politics. They think it is just another version of the Miss America pagent. So why not Obama?

What can you expect from a population crying about gas prices and food prices all while they dial the 1-800 numbers and pay to vote for the next "American Idol" over and over? Hell, if the November elections could be done via phone texting at $.99 a vote (call), 1 per registered voter, most people would be glad to pay the $.99 just to vote for Obama.

If elected, they will get exactly what they want - an empty vessel that is inept in running the country. But sometimes you have to give people what they want so they know not to be so foolish in the future.

I found what Obama said funny. Just like I find most Bushisms hilarious. I love watching Great Moments in Presidential Speeches on Letterman just to see GWB's latest goofup.



We just had 2 terms of ineptness, do you think it will stop? Your giving the people too much credit. They will still be foolish.

It is a different kind. Bush campaigned on something. Something many people did not like. Obama is campaigning on nothing - and that is exactly what they are going to get.

You cant fool all the people all the time, but you can fool enough to get elected.

Arguably, Bush is one of the best politicians. Sure he started a war, but our opponents are too afraid to fight us to our face. Plus, like Dr Guy said, Bush actually campaigned on something, and went through with it. People are then used to presidential candidates actually going through on their words, but odds are that none of the democrats will. McCain I only trust for his experience, not his politics, and he's a heck of a lot better than the democraps.

The people will choose who they want weather you guys approve are not!  And I doubt very much Obama would be in the race if he didn't have something he believed in.  Doc, you might not believe that, but a lot of people do.

That would depend. Are you one of those people who dials for American Idol over and over while crying about food and gas prices? If so then too bad if you find my words offensive. I'm not here to cater to peoples feelings. I figured most here are adults and can handle criticism but it seems I was wrong. The truth hurts and that's the truth. The people in this country could not survive a catastrophe that would put the human race on the edge of extinction because they would expect a person like Obama to fix everything for them. That is so sad, chances are the only people capable of surviving such an ordeal would be the Indians found if Brazil.

What exactly does someone voting on American Idol have to do with someone complaining about the price of fuel and food????

Voting on American Idol is free. Not that I know from personal experience.:LOL:

That is why he is so hated and reviled. People forget he actually kept his promises. A rarity in politics.

Power is something. At the root of Obama is the desire for power. And what he says will change on a daily basis to attain that goal.

I still maintain that Obama is campaigning on nothing. Just what the latest polls tell him will get him elected.

And I know a lot of people believe it - as I said, enough may believe it to elect him. But that does not change the fact that he has no core, except the pursuit of power.

ONe of the ironies of America today. We are so affluent that we can complain about prices while wasting money.

If they have enough money to waste on something so frivolous as a TV show, then apaprently they have more than enough money to waste on gas and food. There is something very wrong when we cry poor mouth in one breath and then turn around and squander money on the other. It shows we are not poor and definitely not in need of assistance.

That makes 2 of us. If it is free, I guess my previous statements are hogwash.

Oh absolutely! Which one of the candidates running don't want power? Otherwise it would be a waste of their time right?! 

We don't know what will happen whomever gets to the big white house.  We can only hope that what he or she does will be for the good of all of us.  As for Obama, I honestly don't think he will be in the big white house.  If he does make it, the beers are on me!  Nope, not going to promise to eat soap!LOL!

 

I haven't seen any charges on my phone bill and yes, I DO VOTE FOR AMERICAN IDOLS  AND PROUD TO SAY SO!  I'm one of those people who like to get involved when I believe in something.  I can't sit on the sideline and have others speak for me. That is why I vote, that is why I get my voice heard! 

Touche'! You are right. However some (McGovern on the left, Reagan on the right) stood for something and stuck to it. But sadly, I dont see any of the current crop having those convictions.



Ok, so the rant about American Idol was hogwash. I have never watched the show much less voted on it. So I revoke my previous statements about the show.

Don't you know it is all about telling peple what they want to hear?!  I know a few people like that too!lol! 

As a child, that is what we want to hear. As we age, we want the truth (most of us anyway). But yes, campaigns seemed geared to children, not adults.

To excuse Obama's popularity to the public being politically ignorant is not a very well thought out answer. It amazes me that he beat Clinton in the primary but it does not in any way lead me to believe that the the dems who voted for him are politically ignorant. I would think it has more to do with his campaign strategists being politically brilliant. Probably not brilliant but in any case to beat the Clintons at their own game is quite an accomplishment. To infer that he has so far not campaigned on anything is incorrect. His website has been full of content with some specifics for most of the race so although most of his campaign speeches were fluff most candidates primary speeches are not very specific or simple attacks on the opponents full of stupid talking points. He didn't beat up his own party during the primary run......not a bad thing. In any case now we will start to see more substance and my guess is he will surprise a lot of people at how adept a politician that he really is. I may be wrong but the fact is we wont really know until Nov.

Amazing that the chief economist from papa Bush's administration has such high praise for the competitions selection of an economists team and states that they are only slightly left of the political center. Hmmm

Remember one simple fact: JFK was even younger when his finger had access to the nuclear button during the Cuban Missile Crisis which has proved to many on both sides of the aisle that some people in their 40's may be considered politically inexperienced but have extremely good judgement when it comes to matters of national security.

I do agree that political campaigns do have a lot to do with telling blocs of voters what they want to hear but McCain's pile of BS is just as deep as Obama's and only time will tell who's ends up being deeper. My prediction is it will be McCains. I say this because I know how well history repeats itself sometimes. Back in the day I voted for Papa Bush and distinctly recall him saying "read my lips". Post war periods usually dictates raising tax revenues so when McCain outlines his economic plan as keeping the tax cuts and adding new cuts for business more than likely all he is doing is making his pile deeper. Keep in mind how badly the reps have stepped on their own toes over the past few years so about the only things McCain would be able to get passed through congress if he gets elected will have to already on the agenda of what will be a democratically controlled house and senate. LOL

Thanks for the comment, but you should have created your own article for it! It is a great article in itself, with a lot of good ideas, and points of discussion. I agree with many of them, disagree with some, but found it a great read.

I hope you post more. Your insight indicates a history of hearing politicians speak, and then contradict themselves with their actions (I have been down that road as well).
