Can't start game in TA

I have just downloaded the newest version of TA and wanted to start a game. After selecting a race, opponents, etc. the game crashes. I don't even get to see the loading bar.

My debug.err says this:
Debug Message: Version v1.5 last updated on: Thu Jan 11 13:39:19 2007
Debug Message: The product appears to be validated but the serial number or the machine SID don't match.

That's all.

I was playing TA in the beta phase.

Did you have a clean install (means: complete uninstall of the TA beta and the reinstall of the final version)?

no I used the update function of the stardock central.

Have you reinstalled windows or moved to another machine since you installed? All you should need to do is delete the sig.bin file from Twilight's folder and reactivate.

I deleted the sig.bin and activated again. I've also reinstalled TA. None of this has changed anything.

However thanks for the help so far - I would be glad to play the game again.

Maybe I have to reinstall the whole game package?
