"A lender nor borrower be." - Benjamin Franklin

Don't tell them to give back the cash, just try to bring it up in normal conversation, and act casual about it.

If they don't cough up sooner or later, give 'em a kick in the shorts.

Peace,

Beebes

hmmmm i am picturing a ski mask and revolver.........

Actually one rule I have is that if I loan someone money, I do so without ever expecting to see it again. That way, I can't hold it against them for not repaying it, and if they do repay it, I am pleasantly surprised. Of course if they don't, I also don't loan to them again. If they ask, I say take it out what I loaned you last time, or seomthing to that effect. But not with any mean intent at all. Once the money is gone, I don't look for it to come back. (Damn, now I repeating myself, must... get.... REST)

I was going to say the same thing.
Sometimes, when you lend someone money, be prepared to lose them as your friends. It's just a sad piece of reality, far too many people have a habit of borrowing and not returning. You know if they told me they can never pay it back, I would still have helped them because they are my friends. INstead they seem to assume that they don't need to pay it back and they just don't come back at all. It's not really about the money. I think I'm disappointed with their lack of consideration and appreciation. It's the same thing when people ask you to buy things for them with the promise that they will pay you later. Most of them won't. Not always because they can't. Even if they can, they can somehow so easily forget it. I'm starting to rant.

Don't lend them again until they pay you back.

"A lender nor borrower be." - Benjamin Franklin

"Neither a borrower nor a lender be,
For loan oft loses both itself and friend,
And borrowing dulls the edge of husbandry;
This above all, to thine own self be true......."

spoke by Polonius in Hamlet, Act 1, scene 3, and it's decent advice, except that it's not used in a positive light, but rather to show up Polonius as a fool, through a longwinded comical rant of adivice to his son, Laertes. Polonius is a stereotypical sophmore, a comical wise fool, excepting that he comes to a bad end (stabbed by Hamlet, after all, it is a tragedy.)

Franklin's good, but he's not that good. Also, by all means lend money, but if you do, be prepared for the strong possibility that you will never get it back. If your friendship as well as your finances can handle this, great. If you can't, don't lend, or just give them the money.
