Looking for a demo or ultimate pack.

I don't own galCiv2...
So I was looking for a demo for TOTA but I finally figured out their isn't one, then I started on a quest to get a recent GalCiv demo or buy the ultimate pack and it was frustrating enough that I wanted to share the experience.

When I click downloads on the galciv2 page I get...

Compiler Error Message: BC30560: 'controls_display_header_ascx' is ambiguous in the namespace 'ASP'.

The rest of the site works but I can't see what is on downloads, I wasn't going to let that stop me.

I decided to fire up stardock central and check on demos or how to buy the ultimate pack. I still can't find the ultimate pack I heard about anywhere after scouring Stardock Central and the store.
Also the only demo listed in Stardock is the original GalCiv2 demo and I didn't want to believe their wasn't a newer demo, so I kept searching.
Should it really be that hard to buy the ultimate pack or find a recent demo on Stardock central.

I found a newer demo after searching GamersHell.com, a gold edition but I still didn't know if that is the latest.

I went to totalgaming.net to try and find the ultimate pack or a recent demo.
I was also curious if I was going to get a deal by using tokens.
The only thing I see on the site is the gold edition, not the ultimate pack I have heard about.
Atleast I could find the Dark Avatar Demo so that is progress.
Totalgaming.net only says "A bundle of the entire saga is available at a discount at www.stardock.com" where I can't find the bundle...

So I came back to the main site and I saw the news item and ability to purchase the bundle but still no demo at the site, happens in IE and firefox. Apparently the only way to find the Ultimate Bundle is on galciv2.com, not on Stardock Central or on totalgaming.net.

The thing that bothered me was all the incongruety on Stardock Central & totalgaming.net in finding the most recent demo and an easy way to purchase the game. It's like everything isn't synched up and a new customer shouldn't have to work so hard to try and find a recent demo on Stardock Central or to buy the ultimate pack. I heard Brad mention in a recent interview that he wants to see the company grow in the next 5 years to be a big publisher, I can't see how that can happen when the simple basics like finding a recend demo or new product are difficult to acquire by new customers. Their is no excuse for Stardock Central not to have a recent demo or easy way to get the GalCiv2 ultimate package.

Anyway, that's all, just wanted to vent. I just don't think it should be that difficult. Move this post if it isn't in the right place please. Hopefully I can enjoy the Gold demo I finally downloaded from GamersHell, then maybe I'll get hooked to the game and get the ultimate pack. But I will likely wait for a TOTA demo which hopefully will arrive sometime.

P.S. Then when trying to post this I get the error that it couldn't redirect me to the site and it would notify some weeble, and I thought I lost my post, but thank goodness for a back button. Do all the Stardock gremlins work in the same building or is this all a case of the left hand project group not knowing what the right hand and left foot are doing. Good times!

The ultimate bundle is available here https://store.stardock.com/product.aspx?productid=ESD-TGN-W279 for 60$ If you use tokens, GC2 + DA + TA costs 8 tokens or 56$ ( see here for all games that can be bought with tokens http://totalgaming.stardock.com/store/ )

BTW, the totalgaming.net page allows you to download the GC2:gold demo, which is the latest available demo.

Thx for the reply. For some reasons it wasn't as easy to find as it should have been on other sources. The totalgaming.net store was missing the ultimate pack option I was hearing about but I guess when you add it up separately it isn't too bad. Maybe some of the points on congruity still communicate and will be taken in the way they were meant, with a new service like Impulse and it's potential I would hope I wouldn't run into the same problems. Thx again.

Because the bundle can't be bought via tokens (it's already cheaper to buy separately via tokens at ~$7 per token).

Their is no excuse for Stardock Central not to have a recent demo or easy way to get the GalCiv2 ultimate package.

TA just came out, and the game team is in crunch mode for PM08, so they haven't been able to make a TA demo yet.

My points on congruity didn't communicate then, you apparently misunderstood. Stardock central doesn't have the latest Galciv2 demo, which I can find at other gaming site mirrors. I was not talking about a demo for TA, I can obviously understand that will take time. Are you saying it's too much to expect that Stardock Central has the latest GalCiv2 demo on it?

The problem is when I wanted to try a GalCiv2 demo to see if interested in the game, it's the dread lords one, with no option for a newer one. I have Stardock central as a sins player, so I didn't play GalCiv. I usually like to try the latest demos for a game because it usually implies fixes and as in this case the latest builds on the expansion Dark Avatar, which again my point is SC lists it as the original dread lords demo, without a dark avatar demo.

As to tokens, yes I had horse blinders on looking for the ultimate bundle and didn't do the math, I see it now.

P.S. Now the downloads button works on the site and I can see the latest demo there, just not Stardock Central.
