Planetary Invasion & Steal Tech

In Gal Civ 2 and Dark Av, after a successful invasion of an enemy planet you would also steal one tech from the enemy.  After invading several planets in Twilight, I have yet to receive a tech after a successful invasion.  Is this an update to Twilight?  No more free techs after invading?

It wasn't a 100% chance in DL/DA to steal techs, however in TA you can now turn off Tech Stealing when you create a game. Having the box checked means you wish for it to be turned on.

And remember some techs can't be stolen in TA. You might simply have all the techs that are available to be stolen researched already.

And dont limit yourself to just one tech with Minor races. As usually they only have one planet, go in and trade your techs for theirs, including all the cash they have. Then hit them with your prepositioned forces in the same turn. Can be very lucrative.

Okay, I see the option to enable/disable tech stealing when playing a game; however, what about when playing a campaign?

I imagine that I've invaded about 20 planets in the campaign (including Dread Lords planets) and have not received one stolen tech. Has received a stolen tech following a successful invasion during a campaign?

yep - you can't steal tech in the campaign.

As a guess as far as stealing from a Dread Lord is concerned, there is a good chance that you could steal a bum-smacking piece of tech that can be used against the DL early on in the Campaign mission....
