Too many weapons (TA)

I might be missing something, but here it goes...

So, I was playing my first game with the Iconians. I was building up my fleet for a final push to victory and desided to design my own large hull ship. After finishing and saving I noticed my newly designed ship had 1/4 of the attack power of the pre-desingned Destroyer. The thing is, I only had Kinetic Streams III researched and that particular Destroyer had 18 of them. With the hull being able to carry only under 100 weight units and the gun weighting 7, that seamed somewhat odd.

I ended up building one and now it has 19 kinetics, attack power of 21 and 2 ECM III's.

This is my second game of GalCiv so I might be just being noobish but hey... :)

If you control military resources and/or have Attack/Defence racial bonuses, these increase the ship's combat strength. In the shipyard you only see the base combat strength for each weapon type, when you finish building one then you see the effect of those bonuses.

Yes but that still doesn't explain why a ship hull with 108 max "weight" can carry 19 size 7 guns on top of the ECM's and an engine. That would bring the accumulated "weight" of the components far beyond what my techs allow ATM.

In TA, the game designs ships for you automaticly. but there is a bug where it designs ships with more components than it can fit in one ship.

That's what I was looking for, thanks. Just thought I'd check out if it's a known bug or not.
