Frequent Disconnects from Ironclad Online

I'm from Australia, so I usually play at around 7pm here, which is early morning in the states. I have been noticing recently a lot of disconnects from Ironclad Online, with no explanation, and wonder if that's when IO gets a going over or something?

Has anyone else been experiencing this? I had three games end tonight just when they were getting started, which is very frustrating. I've decided to give up tonight, and hope for better luck tomorrow. I was having crashes and minidumps, but thankfully they have eased, but that could be just a false positive as I haven't had a game that lasts very long for a while.

What would the people here suggest? I'm on broadband, rarely have ping issues and am running a quad core, and have the latest beta drivers from nvidia, so am pretty sure its not hardware related (though one never knows). I love this game, and have seen people whinging about crashes and then getting flamed. I think that's unreasonable. There are too many people getting crashes (me included, I have done everything suggested in the forums), to ignore or flame on them. I am worried that the sync issue will be fixed, but that people have been assuming that their minidumps are sync crashes and that when the sync crash fix is released, there will still be all the current random crashes. I sure hope it all gets sorted before I get fed up.

Well that's that. Let me know what you all think.

End of quote

If ICO gets restarted, it wouldn't interrupt any games in progress since they're played peer-to-peer and just report back to ICO at the end. It's possible that the host is crashing and causing the game to end, but offhand I'm not sure what else could be the cause. Obviously if you're not actually crashing yourself, there's not much to pass on to support@IC.  :NOTSURE:

I haven't been having any of these problems at all...
I just wanted to test this myself... left my computer on all night and nothing got disconnected at all...

I'm wondering... Is this happening to you a lot on a single day? Or has this been happening every once in a while over a period of days? I think there's a big difference in that...

It happens sporadically, ie once every one to two weeks. Last night was unusual as it happened a few times.
Sometimes, everyone is suddenly migrating, I wait around for a while and the game continues but says everyone else has left the game, so I am the only person left. Other times everyone tries to migrate, a message comes up on little yellow writing saying :you have been disconnected from ICO" and then displays the victory screen. When I leave the game, I end up at the initial menu screen of soase, so I have to re log in yo ICO to play online again.
I'm starting to think it could be host crashing in the former example, and everyone quitting before it migrates to me (I can host fine) and I have been hosting the latter examples. Would this explain the victory screen?

I have a absolutly rubbish BEFSR41 linksys router, heres the thing if you have this router and are using the firmware listed on the US version of the linksys site well theres a high chance that could be the problem. (Doesnt sound like thats the case for you but maybe this will help someone at somepoint)

Heres the thing linksys are aware that there are DC probs with the BEFSR41 wired routers from what I have read anyway. I had to find a forum post from some guy that had the problem for like 6 months and he direct linked a firmware that wasnt even listed on the router page but still downloaded directly. I applied this firmware and I went to getting random DCs in games anything from ever 10 to 30 mins or once every 4 to 6 hours to getting 0 disconnects by using this firmware. The firmware is ONLY for the version 4.2 router. I dont have the link at hand plus you need to do some reseach before applying router firmwares since all but the unlisted firmware makes the DCs worse with this model in many many cases.

I had run routers for years with 0 hassle but some of the modern $30 usd ones are toys, I deem myself lucky finding the firmware I did because I used to get random DCS and sometimes I would get no DCs for a day. If you have a router theres a small chance buggy firmware could be the problem and the only way to know is with heavy use and using more than just one game heavily as in for most of a day on one game then most of the day on another, do this for a few weeks and if you get the odd dc from both then the router is worth looking into, seeing what you can find on the forums for the router. (Maybe you dont use a router but its funny because I had the exact same sporadic disconnects but with every game until I got better firmware)

I might add though it is really difficult to say what it is because if you were joining games and it happens well I know some people try to play ICO who have major issues, one night I went on and there was a guy trying to get players who had like 100% open slots for all , I couldnt join but neither could anyone else apparently. Plus if I am too believe that not everyone has connection issues at their own end then maybe theres still some issues with ICO, aside from the one instance I mention where I am certain it was the other guy that had something bocking all players , I havent had any issues thus far. I may try what Ive seen one other person try, leave my PC on all night in ICO and see if it stays connected
