linknprk22 when you uninstall do you reboot before reinstalling?

How are you installing, with SDC or Impulse?

Also what might help is to run a clean up program like CCleaner and clean the registry before you reboot and reinstall.

One other thing since you are using Vista be sure you are running as admin.

These things usually help when it is a minor problem, worth trying. You may have just gotten a bad download.

Is this something that just happened? In other words had DesktopX been working before?

I use SDC. Ive Uninstalled and reinstalled Desktopx about 5 times on the Admin sccount. DesktopX has never worked for me also.

linknprk22 well that's not very good. I think your best bet is to email [email protected]. Be sure to provide them as much information as possiible. It maybe something as simple as using an earlier release of DesktopX.

I don't use Vista, still using XP so I'm not sure what the problem can be.

You also can try searching the forums to see if some has identified the problem and received a fix.

UAC on or off?  Tried both ways?
Same error if you run as admin (by right-clicking on teh exe)

I suspect it might be a problem with Microsoft's secur32.dll

I have a big problem, thanks to my new DX addiction. From the letter I sent to support. Installed from Impulse both times, ran ccleaner, rebooted,it's still broken.I'm loving DX,I really need help to make this thing work.LETTER:I have an almost impossible time starting DX.v3.50.059 It crashes from the welcome if I try to launch builder mode from there. When I do get client mode running ,it crashes trying to enter builder mode from systray or welcome( 33 times since 5/30).When I did finally get it into builder I set it to run on startup, which it does, and works, let's me save as,etc. If I try to switch over to client it takes many, many tries to start it but no crash with client, it just won't start up.Widgets run fine, just not desktops or objects.I've done an uninstall and reinstall through Impulse ,no help--------------------------------------------------.From 5/30------------------------------------------
