Couple quick noob questions

Im pretty new to Galciv but im a pretty experienced player in Civ4.
I have a few noob questions that have probably been asked before
but I didnt see any answers too.

1. When tech trading, is there any kind of clue to let you know how much a tech is worth?
I understand the green\red text letting you know if they will except the deal but im looking
for something that tells me Tech A is worth 100 pnts, etc. Like the beaker system in Civ4. With
so many techs available to research its hard to be able to judge a fair deal.

2. What is with the autopilot kicking in after I move a ship? For example, I will move my flagship
to an anomaly, it then tells me I have a 1% increase in trade or what ever, then it decides to move
on its own in a random direction. How do I make it wait for me to tell it to go someplace? Its anoying
having it go the opposite direction of the next anomaly to scan.

3. If I give an order to one of my ships to move across the galaxy, then each turn they move
a set distance and stop and the "turn" light lights up like I have moved all my ships. If I reselect that
same ship I can give it another order again and it will a little farther without actually pressing the "turn"
button. Is this a bug? or is it different then Civ4's "turn" button. In my last game I was constantly reisseuing
orders to my ships to get the max movement points but that gets old pretty quick.

Thanks

1. Techs are pretty much set in stone what the AI will pay for them. The higher your diplo skill and the lower the AIs, that amount will shift in your direction. BUT, the more the AI has in cash, it seems the more they are willing to pay, so if you see the AI only has a few hundred BC you might want to wait to try again later.

2. You'll have to turn auto-pilot off and move the ship to the anomoly, then turn it back on when your done if you dont want it to "jump" to the next thing like that.

3. Because the auto-pilot kicks in at the END of the turn. So yeah, you can either leave your ship alone and the computer will move it for you when you end the turn, OR you can move it manually then when you end the turn it won't do anything. Usually it doesnt matter except when you are racing the AI to an anomoly. Your ship moves last, so if the AI is going to get it that turn, manually move yours to it first.

Ah ok that makes more sense then.

On #1, without knowing where the techs are in that tree tho, Its still very
easy to trade an advanced tech for a much much lower tech. Like in Civ4 terms
trading gunpowder for archery? I guess Ill just stay away from tech trading
until I learn the techs better.

on #2, can I turn off autopilot all together? if so, where is that option?

You can right click techs to get a description. Until you learn which techs are what, and where they are on the tree (which wont take as long as you think it will), having a list somewhere to look at isnt a bad idea, either.

For autopilot option, double click on the ship in question, and it will bring up a list of things you can tell it to do, like auto-survey, etc. If you just want to turn autoPILOT off, click on the ship to select it, then right click on the ship again to turn off the autopilot.

Getting a good deal from trading is also complicated by the fact that some races value some techs higher than others - eg something innocuous-seeming like Mining can be guarded jealously by one race... or so it seems to me!

Unless you have high diplo it may be easier just to switch it off
